Cool....what HDMI 1.4 equipment have you got at home waiting to plug this cable in to?

The only difference between this cable and a 99p HDMI 1.3 cable is that it has been tested to the HDMI 1.4 Specification.

How does a 99p HDMI 1.3 cable know that it isn't an HDMI 1.4 cable?

So will this 1.4 version give me a better picture on my 50" lcd through sky hd ?

Depends on the 99p HDMI.

If the 99p one works fine, replacing it with this one will not make it any better.

the only diff between this and other hdmi cables
is 2 wires are twisted around each other for the 100 mbit ethernet wires
makes no diff at all for your picture or sound

at this lengh 1.3 cables will still work fine for 100mbit ethernet anyway even if they arnt twisted
also this has been known about for a long time
im sure company's making cables have been twisting them for quite some time

When USB 3.0 comes out, will the photos that you send to your printer suddenly get an upgrade & look more detailed & more colourful?:whistling:
Same sort of logic:thumbsup:

nice price for a hdmi 1.4 cable. Some hdmi 1.4 products like sony's 3d bluray player have been announced with hdmi 1.4 support. Will be a while till 1.4 capable players and audio receivers are common but its nice to futureproof yourself for just £4.

I agree that the above is the 1.4 spec extras, but any "high speed" cable will do this, which should include the 1080P 1.3 ones, except the ethernet.

so the Amazon one gives you ethernet, plus peace of mind.

lol classic.

i do not understand the fight here. this is good deal for a future proof 2 metre cable. if you can buy a cheaper one on ebay and happy with 1.3 version, it is fine. but nothing wrong with this deal too. it is not £40 or any silly price for a new version of these cables. it is hot for me:thumbsup:

by th way, ebay is not this site's usual reference to compare the price with.

This can also be geared towards people who are burying cables in the walls permanently, best to use future proof cables for peace of mind now even if the 1.3 spec will have some/all capabilities of 1.4

There isn't a fight. Did you read the comments properly?????

As far as I am aware all the latest 3D TVs and Blurays announced this week at CES will have a minimum requirement of HDMI 1.4. So 3.99 to future proof is a hot deal.

Please see here for what 1.4 is like compared to the rest:

Meh, its £3.99 for a decent cable. I need a HDMI cable so i'm going for this one. Its not above average price and its a nice piece of future proofing.

Hot.

As far as I know, there isn't anything out there for consumers that will benefit from HDMI 1.4. Maybe there will be sometime in the future but 1.4 is currently the same as 1.3 in terms of uses.

I agree and also they bound to bring out version 1.5 when you have just swapped out all your 1.3 hdmi cables to 1.4 :-D

Hot deal for me.
I have Nvidia's 3D Vision kit so plan to get a 3D ready TV & Blu-Ray player when they're released at a reasonable price. Nvidia's kit is 100% compatible with the upcoming standard & I hate swapping cables around and plan at some point to run them behind the wall so this is ideal

Hopefully the PS3 can just have a firmware upgrade to be 1.4 compliant to save me money on a blu-ray player...

i know you can get one a bit cheaper but for anyone who wants to spend less, the same company has a 1.5m cable for £1.99 with 2yr warranty.

For quite some time now...

Here's some info on the Blu-ray 3D spec decided upon by the BDA: blu-ray.com/new…924

The TV's (and Blu-ray players) will be filtering onto the consumer market around the middle of this year by all accounts. You'll still need to wear glasses but, they'll be the modern shutter or polarised type (depending on TV manufactuer) and not the old blue and red anaglyph type.
Personally, I'd not get too carried away by either yet as they'll both be first generation and the TV's will definitely get better with later iterations.
As the spec of the Blu-ray players is set, you'll probably be pretty safe buying a first gen version of them, providing they can be updated with newer firmware. Practically every current Blu-ray player can so, there's little worry about that.

I'm a big A/V nut but, I think it's too early for great 3D yet. Even Avatar had issues for me, like motion blurring and only the subject the camera is on being in focus. Two things that I see as detrimental to the high def experience.
That's just my opinion though and I'm sure others will disagree.
