I've had some of these before myself, and they're fine.

Evidence that those who sell HDMI cables at ridiculously high prices are complete rip off merchants.

Why is there 2 different cables in the pics on amazon, one a decent looking one and the other a normal black one?

Well actually it gives better conduction and theres also less chance of corrosion so overall there is less risk of a degradation of signal.

Received mine from the 'Obozzo' seller on Thursday and can confirm in the 'plain black' version I received. Excellent picture quality and happy for exactly £1 including delivery.

Also remember this is cable is the v1.3 not v1.4 specification.

which store you choose?

These are probably junk!

I wouldn't even dream of spending sub £50 on a decent HDMI cable.

Can you use this to run your laptop to the tv

I've bought one of these back in January for my xbox. Been working with no probs at all. I paid 1.25 back then

Thanks

Weird. I thought my PS3 had died because the games kept jumping and the audio skipping. After some self trouble-shooting, I ascertained it was the HDMI cable that was dying.

Then I went to Amazon and ordered two of these and thought they were ridiculously cheaper than normal.

No surprise I come here and see them listed.

HEAT!

Bought mine...x2 infact :-)

no 4k by 2k no buy, you have to be future proof even when buying 99p cables.

Hilarious, the writer tells us they are all the same and then goes on to tell us that in fact they are not.

Cables which are poorly made are often not able to transmit the necessary bandwidth of information (hence the different revisions) for their certification. The sparkles issue is real and fairly common, especially if you get a slightly longer cable than normal.

Poor cable = sparkles. Some cheaply made (doesnt matter what they sell for) hdmi cables just cannot transfer the necessary information to display a 1080p picture without generating errors.

For £1 chances are it going to be relatively shoddy build and cheap which will reflect in the overall quality.

However for a couple of extra quid you can probably get a well made one.

Going over £5/10 and you're just getting ripped off or buying into the **** on the package "Clear Digital Sound" etc...

you and me both the only diference between 1.3 and 1.4 is that it has built in ethernet capability 1.4 is not needed for 3d as i have all 1.3 cables and they all work fine on my samsung 3d tv

In place of the version numbers, HDMI cables are meant to be described on the packaging and cables themselves in five ways:

Standard HDMI Cable: Supports up to 720p/1080i. Total bandwidth of 2.25 Gbps;
Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet: As above, and adds support for Ethernet data up to 100Mbps;
Standard Automative HDMI Cable: Designed and tested for in-car entertainment system;
High Speed HDMI Cable: Supports 1080p or higher. Total bandwidth of 10.2 Gbps; and
High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet: As above, and adds support for Ethernet data up to 100Mbps

im not getting into the argument again but less than 10 foot long a 99p cable will do any more and its worth paying for better quality

So if people are saying its likely to be shoddy build, can anyone recommend a cable that isn't going to break the bank and is good? 10% of the total reviews is one star which does worry me somewhat.

High price HDMI cables are a scam.

HDMI is digital, 1s and 0s, either it works or it does not, no middle ground, it makes no difference if you are using a £1.00 cable or a £50.00 cable, if a picture comes out the other end it is working, both cables are equally likely to fail.

Have a look at this video by LockerGnome: youtube.com/wat…mfu

Analogue cables are a different matter, you can run them over long distances, incur losses, add repeaters, etc. and still have a watchable picture at the other end, not so with a digital cable.

Why do you think most shop displays of TV's use component rather than HDMI - they can split it, run long cables and not worry about a drop in picture quality.

Some are now moving to HDMI splitters, but have the constant worry of cables failing.

Broadcasters love analogue cables, they can run them for miles, RGBHV, Component, etc, they love them.

Love gold plated HDMI, gives me really rich inky blacks and chocolatey bass. Would never go back to the basic ones.

Just gone for it, gone up to £1.03 now too lol! This thread is insane, how you can pay £50+ for a HDMI lead is beyond me!
