Why would people cheap out on cables for a £700 phone

Because they want a cheap cable
saw these... with my experience of them and the iphone cables that did not last more than 5-6 weeks.... i decided not to buy it!
rather spend double for a branded one on amazon (pack of 2's for £6ish) and get them to last forever.

Always wary about cheap USB-C cables, having heard the horror stories about the cheap knock-offs without the resistor. I'm not going to embarrass myself and pretend I know what I'm talking about, but a quick google should bring up the information anyone needs...

I bought a few they seem much better quality than the Lightning or Micro USB... only gogin to use these for the Switch Pro Controllers etc..
Posted last week
About time lol. Heat added but I'm guessing they don't support fast charging?
Be careful what you ram in to your expensive device!
Cables aren't made of equal quality, good luck!

Have some heat OP!
Can't go wrong for a cheap backup cable... From experience poundland cables last about 3 months before they start to fray. I have a Ravpower cable which is still going strong after a year.

Better than Oneplus usb c cable, which is not even USB 3.1 compliant because all Oneplus phones are USB 2. 0.
I was given some of these from music mcpie. They will never last 3 month's
I buy much from Poundland but would never pick up a USB C cable for my phone there. Fraught with danger.
I don't think I would ever touch those. Ashens tested some cheap cables and most of them were rather crap:

They'll probably be similar to the USB-C cables.
That's OP, just picked up the last two at the Walthamstow branch.

Have you got a link and/or the make for the pack of two?
While fine if micro usb (apart from probably not lasting very long, considering the price), I do not think is a good idea to use cheap USB C.
They have
Always sold these
You have to be careful with USB C because unlike previous generations there are different grades of cable and you could seriously damage expensive stuff if your not careful.
Just bought one from them for £2.99 as that's all I could find although it was better quality

When I read the back of the pack it stated that do not use with a usb charger over 1.5 amps and do not use with a pc.

Didn't bother buying.

Defo agree but people will open the pack and throw it away without knowing then end potential damaging what they are using it with.

What are you on about?

You stated that Poundland "haveAlways sold" these.

They have not. You're wrong.

Wtf!! Where did i stare poundland have ever sold these??
Think you have the wrong person.
Only 1amp...not 2.4amp needed for fast charging. Better to pay a bit more for a much better cable without the pain.
seriously do not buy £1 usb-c cables. Unlike micro usb cables, you can do some serious damage if the wrong voltage and or wattage is allowed (more likely with usb c to usb c but nonetheless the warnings with usb c cables are real).

usb c to usb c cables can deliver up 100w.
Cold bought these stop my phone from charging had to bin it bouy quality ones that work and change fast
God there's alot of sanctimonious people on here, I've got dozens of these wires and dozens of plugs, they always get lost and separated, everything runs off these fudges nowadays, go ahead and spend £15 on a branded one and leave it on the train etc, if it charges your phone it charges your phone.

Can you post a link to the ones that you bought please? I'm after a good quality cable. I have a Samsung s8, so the cable needs to support fast charging.

Thanks.

I mean, you can go (very) wrong with USB cables (have a quick Google), so I'd stay away from these.
Whats the craic with these then? Faster charging I presume, by how much? I take it they work fine with USB 2.0/3.0 ports and with any phone tablet?
