you're supposed to boil the spuds first
It's healthy because it requires arm pumping and fist clenching

I have a potato ricer, I got mine from Ikea.

I think I'll get one from Ikea too. The Ikea potato press has ridges on the handle for a better grip: ikea.com/gb/…85/. The Argos one has mixed reviews.

Pressure cook your spuds before bashing through the ricer... amazing mash!
These make the tastiest mash ever...cook your spuds jacket style in the microwave, cut in half and squeeze through the ricer, the skin will be left in the ricer. Add a blob of mayo.

Indeed, however to get them to a pulp that the cheap ricer took then well I could have saved time and just let them drip through a sieve instead defeating the objective of having at least some remnants of a potato left...
Is it still healthy with a metric fukton of butter and cream?

Is rice or potato healthy

White rice is much like potato heath-wise.

Brown rice is better, as it has more roughage; however like wholemeal bread prior to the 1980's, many people (including the Chinese) still think brown rice is inferior.
(White rice is brown rice with the kernel (shell) removed).

I prefer to use a traditional potato masher, because I can then scream "DIE POTATO, DIE!!!!" as I am mashing.
I wouldn't be without my potato ricer now. Smoothest mash and you never have to peel a potato again. Cut in half, boil, then put in the ricer flat side down and you're left with the skin inside it.
Thanks Gentle I never knew that about white is brown without the kernel
Ricers are awesome! half a block of butter and dash of milk use the finest setting.

Thanks Mandy, you're a star.
