Has to be hot! Wonder if you can connect to apps such as strava

good price therefore hot, but I did find one small problem. these aren't encrypted and use same configuration as polar. if you work out in a gym and anybody within a couple of metres is also wearing a compatible chest sensor then they don't work.

I wouldn't by an analogue one, not sure if this is coded or not. But my HRM always has problems in the gym when running non coded, I always have to switch to coded.

Any chance this would work with Endomondo on Android?

I doubt this would be able to work with Strava, as it doesn't appear to have any way of saving/exporting the data. If it did, you would have two different files, one with your HR data, and one with your speed & gps data.

Your best bet would be to look to buy a bluetooth HR strap and connect it directly to your phone

Eg this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Compatible-Endomondo-Runtastic-RunKeeper/dp/B00C2TL63M/

I have purchased the Wahoo TICKR as it's both Bluetooth and ANT+, so it can connect to my Garmin Edge 500 for cycling, as well as my phone for running. It also connects to my Garmin Vivofit so I can see my HR whilst I'm running.

I can't see this working with other devices.
Just bought an I-GotU Bluetooth Smart HRM (£25 via flubit). Check something like this out if you have an up to date Android phone.

Same here although my HRM has problems getting through my layers of fat so I fasten it to the dog and stick him on the tread mill. My heart rate hits 200 while standing still eating a bacon sandwich and getting tight pains in my chest.

HEAT for the price. Dont forget all these new smart watches with HRM are being reported as inaccurate at times!

I know my heart rate is too fast when I feel faint.

This looks good.
Otherwise if you are looking for one that pairs with apps, adidas currently have one in their "backstage members sale". (Just have to create a free log in with them and you have access to this Heart rate monitor for £12 (use code 20EXTRA for additional 20% off to the listed price of £15. Down from £30). You can pair it with micoach app on phone I believe.
