you can get some thst work via the pulse in your arm directly thru the watch but they are rubbish apparently ;-)

Great price, but these HR monitors annoy the **** out of me when training.

well then don't use it!

The last time I got an Aldi Heart Rate Monitor you had to put your finger on a sensor on the face of the watch for a period of time so it could get a reading - no good for running.

I did notice that this weeks Aldi special buys include a whole load of cycling gear and a cyclamen...

Not sure the HRM will work on that.....

A heart rate monitor from Aldi! That could scare a few people when it stops while you're exercising!

If they're anything like the last lot that I saw at LIDL then they're pretty poor quality - you certainly get what you pay for. (And I'm almost certain these are the type that you touch - no chest sensor).

This one from tesco does come with a chest strap and is much better quality - for £20 quid (+cc vouchers etc). direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

hey that's cool - thanks for that. i might get that one instead. any reviews on this?

A lot of aldi stuff nowadays seems like pure junk and very poor value. When they first opened there was some good deals. The yeovil aldi has now closed which wasn't surprising as on the rare occasions I went there it was often just me and one other customer. I'm sure I saw something in there which was £4.99 but also available on poundland.

Ask and ye shall receive - Kelkoo reviews of the same when it was sold on Tesco: mark.reevoo.com/ree…TSC

Just pure ignorance, but why do you need to know your heart rate whilst running or exercising?

Hey wearewolves I believe for optimum weight loss or fitness training dependent on % of maximum heart rate for age, weight etc...

yeah i must check those figures out. My heart rate last night was 180. I'm thinking i better slow down theres no way it should 180 even at 26yo

Work between 65-85% of your maximum HR.
Go to 85% to improve level of fitness, 65% will help burn off excess weight.
Max. HR is calulated thus:
220 minus your age male
225 minus your age female

No warranty given or implied

Hubby is doing cardio rehab at the moment. The instructor said the HRM he bought from Lloyds for £9.99 was actually better than the ones they use on them - he was extremely impressed.
One tip he told him was to use gel on them instead of water, as they suggest, as water doesn't really transmit well like Gel & also will shorten the life span.
250ml of gel from amazon just £2.99 delivered - fetal heart rate, same as more expensive gels.

i've done better - went to my local Lloyds (Meanwood, Leeds) and it scanned at £7.50 - the ticket price was still £19.99
so thanks again for this heads up... and sorry for hijacking this thread.

Just bought the Aldi one this morning and can confirm it is one with a chest strap. I cant compare to the more expensive versions as I have never had one before but I must say for 9.99 it seems a steal. Instructions are a bit long and convoluted but it has got quite a bit of functionality on it - can input your own details (age, gender, weight) and then choose different modes to work (fitness, fat burn, competition, manual). It gives heat rate read out and depending on what mode you are in can show when you are in the optimium zone, what your max heart rate was during the workout, average HR during workout etc etc.
Oh, and it is a watch, alarm, stopwatch - all for 9.99!! Hot deal

^^ lol - that sounds much better than the one i got from lloyds pharmacy
