Heineken Kegs £11.99 each at Home Bargains

Found 24th Apr 2014
5 liter Heineken Draught Keg on offer at £11.99 in Home Bargains! This is usually around the £16 mark so not a bad price for one of the best tasting lagers around!

Yes I know it's less than 10 pints but compared to it's usual price it's still a good deal!

I got 3 in but may get a few more in time for the World Cup!!!

Best before end of sep 14 on mine!

I think it is National too as the only reason I went in to Home Bargains is because I spotted the picture of the Heineken on a different beer thread from Home Bargains! (Sagres I think)

Do people store these things in the fridge?

Edited by: "Thehulkster699" 24th Apr 2014

They don't need to be stored in the fridge but they do need to be fully cooled before you dispense from it to get the best effect. 24hrs in the fridge before you want to use it is best to prevent you getting lots of foam? I would keep it in the fridge after it's been opened though.

Yes, chill first for at least 10 hours then take outside! I leave mine in the fridge and just pour a glass when I want one!

Had to move some of my wife's salad though!

You want to open it and then put it back in the fridge??? You need more drinking practice

Never realised they needed 24 hours in the fridge, last time i seen one of these my mate was going on about how great it was going to be (not sure why) but when he opened it, he got about 6 pint glasses of pure froth. The rest of us enjoyed laughing at him for a while, he was raging.

Once it's been in the fridge and half a glass is poured it will then pour perfect! First bit out is usually froth then pure pints from then on!

Would be interesting to try one just for the novelty value - but would be gutted if half of it turned to froth.
Will have to make some space in the fridge..........

Good concept, although there is to much wastage in pouring

It would be great if you could convert one of those fridges with a chilled water dispenser with one of these. I reckon who ever does it could make a fortune. I would appreciate it if they would remember it was my idea. Heat anyway.

I've never wasted any from any of the kegs I've had!

U don't get what it promises in pints but it is great to slap on the table put your feet up and poor yourself a beer while watching the footy. Decent for the reduced price

Pure novelty, but great when you're having a mate or two round for sports.

I'm not a Heineken drinker, but these things do actually pour a very good pint. You pay for the novelty, and don't actually get 10 pints worth out of it, but very convenient nonetheless. Especially with summer coming up.

Far better than the dregs they serve in cans, at least from my experience.

you can get fridges in the states which have built in beer taps, you can also get all stuff to convert your fridge. reminds me of the carlsberg draft master from a few years back which never really took off. in the uk its always been cheaper buy cans or bottles than kegs

Ahhh these were good bit frothy at first but decent after. I remember getting 2 free from Sky with their Sky HD Party promotion few years ago.

Why are people going on about you dont get 10 pints. Of course you dont its only 5 litres. Did you go to school. Also at over £2/L its not cheap beer. Used my maygs again there

Fell into the trap of being clever and your fat fingers let you down

For everyone's benefit what is maygs ?

Terrible novelty, you only get froth so a waste of money and more expensive than bottles/cans

"One of the best tasting lagers around".
Have to oppose that and say its possibly the worst.
However decent deal.
Bought a couple of budvar ones from Costco at Christmas.
Good for a party etc but just a novelty really

had a few of these when on offer over the last couple of years.

yes the first pint is all froth and towards the end it spits it out but between the two its as good as any pint in the pub. keeps for 30 days once opened too.

I would guess I usually get about 7 pints of good quality pints out of these. so assuming a deal price of £2 a pint anything below £14 is a good deal on these in my eyes.

Why's it worth the extra, surely the same as the dregs you get in a can/bottle?
What was it like hot BTW?

"one of the best tasting lagers around" I suppose it's better than Carling or Tennant's but "best" is pushing it a bit.

Now I am a annoyed ,this deal has more heat than the deal I posted a few days ago that covered this grrrrr

To be fair if you read back I did quote your deal but I didn't think people would realize you could get the Heineken kegs as your main deal said Sagres! This one puts the Heineken in the headline lol . Your deal is the ONLY reason I even went to have a look so you can have the credit!
As for those who say it's all froth, I've had about 5 of these over the past year and the first half a pint is froth but from then on it's like being in the pub! Obviously if you don't know how to hold a glass when you pour you're going to mess it up!

OP u need to try a decent beer like this
google.co.uk/sea…567

then u will understand Heineken is ****.

...so not a bad price for one of the best tasting lagers around!

ROFL!

Now that's funny!

It's all good

Look out for the Sky promotional giveaways nearer the Champions league final. Got 3 of them last year.

Good for novelty value but would never bother actually buying them.

Can these be reused or modified for reuse for homebrewing?
