Tin cans !!

Nope. Tins in England. Cans in America.
scunny16/10/2019 09:59

Nope, stuff the yanks. https://wikidiff.com/tin/can

In England, english people would say “tin of soup”. It’s that simple. Americans refer to things in cans. I’m not sure why there’s any discussion here?

Yes.

You mean tins? As in tin of soup, or cans, as in can of Coke? Have you ever heard an English person use the term “can of soup”? What has production got to do with terminology? What point is it you’re trying to make?

I live near Newcastle and we say can of pop, tin of soup. Not sure where you’re from, but I’ve never ever heard an English person say tin of Coke.

Because it's a discussion thread.

Because it's a discussion thread.

Not really. It’s for money saving deals. I only originally corrected the OP to change it. However, for there to be a discussion, there must be wavering facts, whereas, in this case, there isn’t. It’s a tin of soup in this country. Always has been.
Heinz tomato soup and a crispy roll for my lunch today.

" please do not disturb"

Tin cans !!

Unless you are buying a can of lager
Wonder why they stopped making the tomato with chilli

Did you bother to read before commenting? Tin of soup. Can of Coke. Obviously, it would be can of lager too.
I can i can't!
Guys, I'm in Norway - it's £3 (35kro) for one, the kro is so useless against most currencies inc the £. Normally 35kro, we think of as £3.50
twotone195416/10/2019 10:53

We say a can of lager not tin.

Lager can definitely be both.

"Big bag of cans with the lads"

And... "Got a few tins of lager" along side "let's grab a few tinnies and head for the train"
Can of Coke or lager, tin of soup.

Think they have these in Tesco, 12 for £5.50
Edited by: "GishG" 16th Oct 2019
Farmfoods do 12 for £5 but only Chicken or Tomato Soup varieties

Norway has extremely high wages to go with the extremely high taxes and living costs though, so it balances out. Plus everyone goes to Sweden to buy cheap groceries including heavily taxed items like alcohol, smuggle it all back over the border and customs turn a blind eye

Nothing obvious with this thread pal, someone has just thrown the word tinnies into the mix

Then your education is questionable. It has always been tin of soup, for as long as soup was sold in tins. Tin of soup, tin of beans etc. What would you say?

Did that popcorn come in a bag or a sack?...........
This is a great price for soup. Vegetable is my favourite but they don’t always have it in stock in the supermarkets. Will definitely stock up on these. Thanks very much for sharing.
