Hellmann's Mayo, 800g - £1.42 and BOGOF in store at Tesco

Found 3rd Apr 2010
As per title, 800g jars of Hellmann's Mayonnaise are £1.42 and BOGOF in store at Tesco.

The 800g jars of the Lighter version are £1.41 and BOGOF.

This was advertised on signs and shelf edge labels in store.

This deal is effectively half price and BOGOF, which suggests it's a mistake and maybe this explains why it isn't showing online. It certainly went through the tills just fine half an hour ago.

I see that this deal was mentioned in another thread where there's a similar half price and BOGOF deal on tuna and sweetcorn.

This was also in my Tesco in Taunton, went through the till here as bogof aswell, which was a couple of hours ago, great deal for mayo lovers like me!

Yup - picked up quite a bit of tuna, sweetcorn and the mayo. instore earlier today. According to a member of staff the offer is only going to work untill midnight tonight, then the tills will update and the BOGOF will be coming off - so you need to be quick

Thats £0.71p a Jar which is the cheapest ive ever seen.. bought 6 jars yesterday, expiry date was feb 2011, the`ll be finished much before that though. Heat added!

I bought two of these on Friday for £2.82 on BOGOF, must be different prices in different stores perhaps! Still thought it was a bargain at that price though

I will probably be proved wrong on Monday, but it could be, as with the Tuna, Mayo and Sweetcorn (as well as pasta in my store) that were all on the same promotional stands.. this may not be a 'glitch' as the big ML likes to say!

It could just be that these offers weren't shown online straight away because of the double bank-holiday weekend (and lack of deliveries over Easter) thus leading to a mirriad of confused staff who's stores hadn't even set up the offers yet, claiming it was a 'glitch'.

I hope I'm right ! need some more Tuna on Monday! :whistling:

will await the monday reviews but great deal for those that got there yesterday, heat.

BOGOF not working today. Seems HQ made a mistake over the pricing.

Mayonaise is made of two things
Egg Yolk and vegetable oil whisked together
anything else added is to make it cheaper

you should all try making your own it takes seconds and is far nicer
and costs pennies

All stores are closed today to account for the Christian Holiday of Easter (read above) :whistling:

Tesco Express stores are open today.

To the person who suggests making your own mayo, I would point out that there is no way you'd make 800g for less than 71p. There has to be at least .75l of vegetable oil in one of these jars and then you've got to add in the price of free range egg yolks.

No they're not. Express stores in ENGLAND are mostly open. All stores in Wales and Scotland are open as normal. Happy Easter.

Only the very Smallest of stores are open today...

businesslink.gov.uk/bdo…287

indeed! :-)

Last week I got 2 jars for £2.82 on BOGOF and thought I had done well.

Defo a mistake if it is half price and BOGOF,

I think the Easter Sunday trading laws only allow shops under a certain square footage size to open. That must be how some of the smaller Argos get away with opening on an Easter Sunday - their actual "shop space" is small but all the stuff is out the back !

No - not all of us are in England.

And I work in the pricing department so I tend to know a thing or two about offers

Indeed, I was simply making the point that Scottish stores are not subject to English Trading Law and as such are open.

To further the discussion note stores (at least in Scotland) will be open today (Monday) but subject to bank holiday hours.

Posts on other forums indicate that stores have changed the signs so that BOGOF is no longer showing and that the tills are not giving BOGOF either. Therefore the offer is expired. If you do see a sign or label indicating £1.42 and BOGOF, you should be able to claim a full refund if you buy some, as you will be overcharged.
