'Hwyl'
There is no such word in English, but a rough definition refers to a complex, intangible and overwhelming stirring feeling of emotional motivation, energy, passion and sense of belonging that isn't easy to translate but which has been said to sum up 'Welshness' in a word

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau
The title – taken from the first words of the song – means "Old Land of My Fathers". The words were written by Evan James and the music composed by his son, James James, both from Pontypridd, in January 1856. The earliest written copy survives and is part of the collections of the National Library of Wales.
Performed by Côr Meibion Pontypridd & The Parc & Dare Band.

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd i mi.

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwald tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ac erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

Land Of My Fathers

The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
While bleeding for freedom of yore.

Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
While sea her wall, may naught befall
To mar the old language of Wales.

Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,
Each hill and each valley, excite my regards;
To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems
The music that flows in her streams.

My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,
The language of Cambria lives out to this day;
The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,
The harp of my country survives.

I'm English and love the passion of the Welsh Rugby fans.

Diolch yn fawr

This deal should be flamin' hot!

I'll give it some heat, not a great deal as such but.. As a fellow Welshman, I can't fault this song for drumming up support before a Rugby match. One of the greatest National anthems to go along with one of the greatest national flags.

The English translation is a very loose translation!
There is no feeling in the world to match singing this in the Milennium Stadium just before kick-off - it really does makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.

It can be described in one word in Welsh - Hwyl

In the same way that the English language has taken hundreds of thousand of words from many other European languages as well as Latin and added a vowel here and there to make the word pronunciation sound more English. If you don't like the Welsh language simply don't tune into any Welsh radio stations or watch S4C....can't be that hard given that you don't live in Wales. Now off with you and go troll somewhere else!

I do live in Wales, i get this dying language pushed down my throat 24/7 - The people change their minds about speaking English infront of English like they change their clothes. The most insulting, ill mannered and dis respectable bunch of people ive ever came across.
