The black one is the same price... https://www.heptinstalls.co.uk/product/omga-seamaster-diver-300m-co-axial-chronograph-41-5mm/

I don't like the moonwatch. That's why I bought a black seamaster chronograph.

Is that the one that helps you work, rest and play?

You know they make a Mars watch too!

Omega prices are getting stupid these days too. My Speedmaster was only £1100 - admittedly that was 18 years ago and it cost £500 for a service in the interim! (shock)

goody

nah just pulling your leg i see what you mean ...i will get an omega one day

Besford

They seem to have massive bezels with a small watch face in the middle; this is far from the worst of them.

Nice watch, I have an F1 Tag......think it’s either 10 or 11 years old now. Never needed anything more than a new battery. When I clean it, everyone still comments on my nice new watch.

maxmix

I suppose, but there are not many $4 a week jobs going just now in Switzerland ;) Plenty in the far east especially in China, makes you think when Apple is worth 2 Trillion, Doubled is revenue since Lockdown in March, unbelievable feat ! Covid did well for the Apple shareholders ;) maxmix

could say the same about apple / Samsung flagship phones in terms of cost of production etc. To be fair there's many examples

Ah that’s good! I do like the social part too, the planet ocean you have is lovely, if it was mine I’d definitely have it on the Omega blue rubber strap, always liked those! I have the 116610ln, I got it a few years ago now but considering getting rid.

peter1969uk

Looking at it on my phone, it didn't show too much, but I am colour blind.

SpeakEnglish

Yeah course, though I thought the pic showed the gold up pretty well.

peter1969uk

Ah its the one with the gold accents, I couldn't tell with your photo. That explains the price.

Indeed they are and funnily enough I called the jewellers/AD yesterday. I ended up chatting to the manager for over half an hour, totally social rather than business, which shows I've built a decent relationship with him. I gave him my Seamaster 007 Commander watch before lockdown to raise most of the cost of the Planet Ocean and it would appear he's going to return me more than I paid for it so I'll more than happy with that. Which sub have you got?

So you can take it to an AD, but you can also try for small scuffs with Polywatch. This definitely not for everyone, as it can be quite daunting but there's a fair amount of conversation about this on forums. https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/polishing-a-hesalite-crystal.4673697/ https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/removing-scratches-from-a-hesalite-crystal.3917770/

That's why it's such a hard decision for me! Now I'm on pretty good terms with my local Omega dealers and they have always taken my watches in and polished (the metal) for free. The salesman did say he would offer free glass polishes if I went for the Hesalite but being a main dealer, he would be charging pretty much rrp (and I won't be getting it at these amazing online prices I keep seeing).... So 2 Omegas and a 3rd one potentially just because Rolex has put me on a waiting list for over 2 years for a Sub. I hate the Rolex market strategy.

Craccer

I generally love seeing the inner workings too, just think the message on the back from nasa is a must for this. If there was an I between, sapphire front and standard back then I might have been more persuaded tbh. Personally the scratch thing doesn't bother me that much, it'll pick up a scratch... It is what it is. If it become too much just get them buffed out. You can do that about 5 times i think before you need to replace the glass for the integrity. You'll get a few of those cleans for that money saved. The historical accuracy, as someone else pointed out, is quite a tricky one. It's not the original watch, it's a modern version, but I still want as close as possible in today's range. I think if you're going to buy a watch that's manual, as you've said, then might as well go all out and get the nearest to original (just my view). I'd 100% go sapphire if it was automatic. Hesalite is beautiful though, love mine.

ei8hty5ive

I am in 2 minds on this one. This will be my 3rd Omega and this one has been the hardest to choose. I am totally understand the historical accuracy, authenticity of the manual wind and Hesalite glass. I also like that the Hesalite has a flatter, less curved, viewing window with no halo but all my other watches are mechanical self winds (which I love) and don't think the manual wind novelty will wear off pretty quickly for me + the idea of the scratch magnet Hesalite gives me shivers down my spine. I also have the viewing window on my Aqua Terra and its just lovely to see the inner workings. I have to say I'm swaying to the Sapphire. Heat though. Great price for a great watch.

peter1969uk

I used to like the Hestalite on my old one, I like the blue haze in certain lights. However I prefer to buy a watch I can wear day in day out and not worry about scratches.

The circumference of my hand for glove sizing is 34 cm, so 45 mm watches are not a problem (lol) (horror)

Kratos69

Yeah they are pleasing on the eye! I think they’d wear large due to the polygonal face too. They have a nice range for sure but again it’s not a brand I’m overly familiar with.

MildmanneredCalvin

Thanks, I think they do stand out for their looks. The polygonal face is not one I've seen in any watch brand so far. I'd buy one of their models for something to keep, not sell on after some years.

Kratos69

Im not sure, more than likely it was an error my end in the initial price, I’ll change now to reflect. Thanks for pointing it out! I think it was my error as it’s now a 20% discount instead of the 21%.

Whenever these "expensive" deals are posted, you'll always get a few bitter people who comment, purely out of spite because they could never afford such an item. Leave them to it.

Kratos69

That was entirely my point. The original poster was complaining about his £10 watch doing the same thing. I was saying there’s always going to be a product that technically does the same thing and gave him a few examples. I wasn’t slating the deal, I was advocating it, I posted it (lol) . The whole point of my comment was to show him that pretty much.

Andrew_Millard

As a motorcyclist, I haven't worn any jewellery due to the damage it can do in a crash and haven't worn a watch since school!

No8

Because we are lucky enough to live in a democratic society and have freedom of choice. And where are you getting beans for 10p, the 1980s..?

Kratos69

True, but a quick search of the Ref no A1733110 on chrono24 tells you that this model can’t be had for less than £2k preowned. That’s where I’d personally sell a watch. You probably wouldn’t get back the full amount you paid on this model for sure but you wouldn’t lose a fortune I doubt.
