USB DJ CONSOLEThe latest dual deck digital mixer from dj specialists Hercules offers a strikingly modern and updated design than its top selling predecessor, the mk2. An integrated high performance audio interface allows you to run two external audio line/phono inputs (allowing you to use your existing turntables, mp3 players or cd players with the console), two stereo line outputs, headphone output for monitoring, and a microphone input for talk over - making this console an extremely versatile digital mixing tool for beginners and professional mobile djs alike. The mk4 comes in a slicker design; a wider yet thinner compact body than the mk2 that weighs less than the average laptop, metallic-covered top finish with a protective see-through plate, and new layout that provides a comfortable mixing solution for any dj. Adding to a multitude of features taking from previous models, the dj consoles mk4s enhanced utilities include 4 browser buttons instead of a joystick, more space between the cross fader and jog wheels, 2 state-of-the-art pitch encoder knobs, and backlit buttons for ease of use in low-lit environment. A specially tuned version of Virtual dj also comes free with the mk4, compatible with windows xp/7/vista and Mac os 10.4/10.5/10.6 Standard features include a 3 band eq, pitch bend & auto sync buttons, cue & loop functions - this unit is compatible with pretty much all midi operational music software.

The behringer BCD3000 was much better than the MK2 and 3 hercules....what is the upgrade on the MK$ that makes it better.

You also get Tractor 3 with the BCD3000

BCD isn't that reliable with Vista though, but agree the functionality was top notch for the price of the BCD.

The upgrade of the MK4 to the MK2 is mainly cosmetic and practical rather than functional.

You got traktor LE with the BCD which was good, but not as good as the full version...

I realise the price points are quite different, but how would one of these compare to an M-audio xponent? - I love the xponent, but can't justify dropping £350+ on one for the odd house party...

For house party purposes this would suit perfectly - easy to work, and has all you'd realistically need for house parties - sync, EQ, effects etc. (Though unlike the xponent, the jog wheels aren't CDJ size, they're more compact)

Then again, against the xponent it doesn't compare at all - but you get what you pay for..

I would also consider the Hercules DJ Control E2 which is a good alternative.

You'll need an external/additional sound card with the E2 though, whereas the MK4 has a buit in soundcard, allowing external inputs also

is this better than the steel or the rmx?

Is this still good?
