All hersheys products give off a sick smell, I thought I was the only one who noticed it but its actually the ingredients they use.

Butyric acid — which gives vomit its acidic smell and taste — and gives American chocolate its "tangy" flavor. Apparently the reason they use this ingredient is so they can use sour milk which is cheaper.

Also in America they have a licence for Dairy milk and started to take out the actual cocoa and instead replace it with sugar and oil and won't allow the sale of UK dairy milk to avoid confusing the consumers. The UK dairy milk bars have a minimum of 20% cocoa but in the US they are going to 10% or less.

Hersheys US Ingredients:

Milk chocolate (sugar, milk, chocolate, cocoa butter, lactose, milk fat, soy lecithin, PGPR, emulsifier, vanillin, artificial flavor).

Dairy Milk UK ingredients:

  • Milk**,
  • Sugar,
  • Cocoa Butter,
  • Cocoa Mass,
  • Vegetable Fats (Palm, Shea),
  • Emulsifiers (E442, E476),
  • Flavourings,
  • **The equivalent of 426 ml of Fresh Liquid Milk in every 227 g of Milk Chocolate,
  • Milk Solids 20 % minimum, actual 23 %,
  • Cocoa Solids 20 % minimum,
  • Contains Vegetable Fats in addition to Cocoa Butter

Dairy Milk US ingredients:

Milk, sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, vegetable fat, emulsifiers, flavorings. Sugar, milk, chocolate, cocoa butter, lactose, soy lecithin, PGPR, natural and artificial flavor.

Hersheys and Dairy Milk US wouldn't even be considered chocolate in the UK because of the ingredients which do not have coca solids listed at all.

Just something to think about!

Have to say I’m not a fan of Hershey’s and normally avoid the stuff but picked up a bar of the mint while shopping as like mint stuff and have to say I thought it was nice (didn’t get chance to smell it as it didn’t last that long before it was eaten)

The chocolate contains a chemical which is also found in vomit. I think this is just the taste Americans seem to like. Very strange.

I get the same taste every time I see Donald Trump making a speech

“Ice cream flavour” and not actual ice cream

It's not ice cream, but ice cream flavoured chocolate.
I still remember the first time I had Hershey bar with smarties in as a kid. I actually thought it had gone off as it smelt so bad, tasted okay but I’ve been put off ever since tempted by the mint one now though..

I also remember the first time I had a Hershey bar. After all the hype on TV I was expecting something really special but it was awful, nothing like chocolate at all.
I then realised why Americans call them candy bars, because thats all they are, just flavoured sugar, sour milk and fat.

I didn’t realise it had sour milk in it until I saw the top comment! I was trying it in front our of American friends who were visiting so felt like I had no choice but to try it and enjoy it never again!
they taste worse than they smell... Absolutely rancid
