Can this be used to store music in mp3 format and be plugged into the car audio system where it will pllay the music?

Wow, heat added! In reply to Wazza, in order to play music through your cars USB port... as far as I'm aware they have to be MP3 players, not just memory sticks... correct me if I'm wrong??

If your car has a USB-in, then I don't see why not. If just has iPod connectivity or simply a 3.5mm-in then I'm afraid not - you'll need an iPod or an MP3 player for those.

Yep, bought one a few weeks ago (same price) and works great in my car USB port.

Good bit of kit well pleased with mine, much faster than I was expecting

Just some feedback here, bought a 4GB one for £5 last week, its amazing very small and compact but didn't get a lanyard with it...but nevertheless it's well worth it, just stick it on your key ring!

Thanks OP just ordered one. Have a bit of heat.

That was over a month ago so it can be reposted (though it doesn't feel that long ago I saw it on here)

Decent (no lanyard with mine but not a deal breaker)

I have this! Brilliant size, quite quick too I have found

I purchased this one as well and was very pleased with the price, speed and build. Plugs into my Samsung TV and plays DIVX, Music, etc... great value for money.

Very nice. What are the read/write speeds on this?

I've tested both using FAT32 and NTFS, performing each test 3 times for each format. The file for the DiskBench tests was 1.4GB in size.FAT32USBDeviewAverage Write Speed: 9.19 MB/sAverage Read Speed: 17.33 MB/sDiskBenchAverage Write Speed: 7.34 MB/sAverage Read Speed: 15.22 MB/sNTFSUSBDeviewAverage Write Speed: 6.64 MB/sAverage Read Speed: 16.92 MB/sDiskBenchAverage Write Speed: 10.97 MB/sAverage Read Speed: 14.90 MB/sConsidering the manufacturer claims write speeds upto 9 MB/s and read speeds upto 30 MB/s, I don't think the write speeds are too bad! But the read speeds could be better Perhaps they will be for smaller files, I'll have to test further.

Fairplay. Definately doesn't feel like a month since I purchased mine from that lol.

I'll just quote my post from the previous thread. I posted a review on the play.com page also

lol..the smaller the USB, the easier it gets lost xD

I bought one of these a few weeks ago.

Good points: size, reasonable 'read' speed
Bad points: cap doesn't stay on very well, average 'write' speeds

And I guess if you leave the cap off, the data goes crusty or worse still could get spilt.

Thanks, purchased

Could anyone pls tell who has bought and using this product that how the cap is like. I bought this 2 weeks ago and found out that the cap is too loose, it just drops down if you hold the stick vertically.

I returned the product and got a refund but wants to know if is it a known issue or I was just unfortunate to receive that piece as I did liked this USB a lot and wants to order again if I know that it's not a manufacturing or known fault.

Thanks

I find myself playing with mine a lot whilst sat at my desk on the phone (Tried rewording that several times without making it sound filthy!), sliding the cap off and on between my fingers, and I'll admit it has become slightly looser but nowhere near the point that it just falls off on its own.

Were you able to format it to use with Samsung built in PVR? Have tried three now, only one worked

Don't you have to format the USB pen drive/HDD via the TV itself? I've read it uses VFAT, so I'm assuming you'd have to view the files using a linux distro. Or did you get an application with your TV to view the files on a windows based system?

yes, it does use VFAT. I have just put 3 pen drives in (two were brand new) and two failed to format. Both were 4gb drives. The one that did was a 16GB. Didn't want to have that locked exclusively to the TV as it could not be read by Windows 7 afterwards (needed a reformat).

I have an old 640gb HDD hanging around, so will use that I think as a PVR

Got one a couple of weeks ago - Excellent bit of kit, although you need a bit of paper in the cap or it falls off. Ordered another - Heat added!
