@apur32 ...
Great TV with the fabulous unique Ambilight function which syncs with TV screen to the led lights on 3 sides at back to cast the same time of the light as the screen is showing.

Great detail

Enjoy incredible clarity in everything you see with the Philips 65PUS8204/12 65" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. With HDR and a resolution four times better than Full HD, you'll get bright colours and sharper images.

It'll upscale your older shows and movies too, letting you rediscover your favourites as you've never seen them before.

Be immersed with Ambilight

From movies to games, get more immersed in your content with Philips Ambilight. Intelligent LEDs around the edges of the TV panel cast the colours on your screen onto the wall behind it and into your room, creating a stunning effect that will make your screen feel bigger and give every show a tailored, real-time light show.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

With Dolby Vision technology, every scene is enhanced for a brilliantly vivid image. Finer details are deeper, skin tones look more natural, and motion appears perfectly smooth - ideal for fast paced sports and movies.

Dolby Atmos gives your audio a boost too, for a full sensory experience that captures all the original richness of your content. Everything will look and sound more real than ever.

Convenience at your fingertips

Say goodbye to endless scrolling and use your voice to control your TV. With the in-built Google Assistant, whether you search for a movie on Netflix or find an app in the Play Store, all you need to do is ask. You can even control other Google Assistant compatible devices around your home, like smart light bulbs or the thermostat without even needing to get up.

With the Google Play store and the Philips App Gallery, there's loads of content for you to explore. Get movies, boxsets, music, apps, games, and more all directly to your TV – there's something to keep everyone happy.

What if I want 4 way ambilight?

This is 4 sided. The main screen itself also emits light

2019/2020 re latest model. Replaced the ones ending in 3.

Yes the current 2019 model, not the 2020 model, as that comes out later in the year.

I'm not knocking the deal, however the 'latest 2020 model' will be misleading for some.

2019 model according to previous post's. Still the current model, but will probably be replaced later in the year.

High end? Latest 2020 model? Not sure either of those are true! As much as I love these TVs you can't really call them high end?

'one of the better, more affordable Ambilight TVs' is a little more to the point.
its high end on the philips spectrum lol

2019, low mid range. Best bang for your buck model by a long shot though in this price range

Does anyone know if these are VA or IPS panels. Only showing info online for 50" which is VA
Also no info on any size if 10bit or 8bit frc?
I would buy this but went with the lg 7600 for 630 the other day but that had 6 year warranty to
Code also works on the 55" making it £455 if the 65" is too big
From my experience of purchasing a 55” ambilight last year I would definitely get a 65 in future. I’m approx 2m away from the screen and it feels small. I preciously had a 42” and the upgrade to 55” left me wanting more.

It's really confusing the Philips range as the same TVs have different types of screen dependant on the screen size.
hot if this has 5 year warranty
How bad will the picture be on this for this price for a 65er???
Whatever happened to "AmbiLux"?. That looked EPIC imho
Really liking mine picture is great love ambilight, have one small issue Freeview play button has appeared shows me what is on each live channel. But get a not currently available. I am connected via satellite not traditional aerial, I thought play version was online. Read yesterday software might need to find at least one Freeview channel to confirm am actually in UK to then work online. Have a roof aerial but TV is big to carry upstairs to only room with a cable as I use Plex and a hd homerun setup to give me live TV over WiFi. Want to activate the catch up.

Any advice

55" is IPS.
I want a 50" but don't want a VA panel.

I would pull the trigger if it was 4 sided ambilight. 3 sided is just plain wrong lol
Wouldn’t recommend without warranty, have had a couple of them that I’ve had to send back
I find the red "on" light on the telly bad enough... and a distraction to watching tv. And don't get me started on the glowing X on Xboxes...

So I'd not even take one of these tellies for free 😄

But a good deal none the less. If you want this kinda thing. But goodness.... Why 😄😄😄?!

Difficult to say. Professional reviews rate this highly. Even the older series was well received.
In contrast quite a few people on here purchased Philips TVs and were very dissatisfied. Some sending them back

Excuse me, but I just got the LG 7660 65” today. 20% off code - refurb - paid £354 delivered.

Still in wonderland at this point. I’m coming from a 41” 8 year old Samsung 👐😄

Also do you know the difference between the 7660 and 7610? They look identical in the specs?
