Please be careful about giving your guinea pigs these. Many people believe salt licks are not necessary for guinea pigs and in fact can be dangerous. The guinea Pig Forum (UK) is a useful source of info.

So there is no consensus? Why would it be removed because some people "think" it is bad, Hukd shouldnt be policing in the manner you want, tho they like to do just that. Just try and enlighten people it needs looking into. Also it clearly is dependant on how much salt they get from the diet you feed them to the benefit this could provide and so would be different for every person.
If nothing else they will be well seasoned if you decide to make Peruvian Cuy

Amanda and lasagne are going to be stuffed in about a month if they keep licking these. That kids follow up pic won't be so jolly.

Why create such a drama, just get another guinea pig, or a better pet like a dog.
Dam you Carol Baskin.

Cars can also be classed as 'dangerous' so should all deals for cheap cars be removed?
Himalayan salt products have been responsible for the deaths of pet cats and dogs. signs of salt poisoning include: vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, lethargy, seizures and confusion. Anecdotal evidence that animals can survive being given these do not make them a good idea.

These are made for rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs, these aren’t a bad idea, giving them to your cat or dog is your bad idea.
Been rabbit owner since 15 years, for God sake please do not give your rabbits Salt Licks or Mineral. It is crap, way too much - good and balance diet already supplements enough minerals.

I am pretty sure same goes for guinea pigs and hamsters.

So just do not, please - do your research and help your pet.
No idea what it is..........

Why?! There's a reason they haven't removed it, it's a good deal
OMG, I just got asked for a £1 from a Guinea pig standing outside the local asda begging. He told me he started on the salt Rock aged 2 and his life went down hill from there. He even ended up selling his own cage for a lick of a mcdonald's chip at his lowest point. Very sad. This needs to stop.

Rabbits get everything they need from hay, water and greens every now and then alone. Everything else is extra and treats and should only be given in moderation. This isn’t bad for rabbits.

If they get everything from hay, water and greens, then this salt lick is at best pointless. (At least from a nutrition perspective.)
To me this seems like capitalism doing what it does best, creating demand where previously there was none (and probably for good reason, too).

(I'm not anti-capitalist, just observing.)

Yeah it’s a treat to be had in moderation, like treats for humans which you can also say are pointless.
True, but at least humans know that treats should be had in moderation.
