First windows table I've seen under 350. From Carphonewarehouse. 1gb ram and 16gb starage on board.

The Hipstreet W10 is a great value tablet that has all the best bits of a PC but squeezed into the convenient package of a tablet.

Ideal for entertainment on the go

With a strong speaker, screen and portability, it's a great tablet for entertainment. It uses the Windows 8.1 software too, so it'll play all the files you'll ever want, whether they're video or music.

Microsoft Office 365 free for a year

And if you do plan on doing some work on the Hipstreet, it comes with Microsoft Office 365. You'll get a free one subscription too so Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more are yours to use.

Looking for a super portable and cheaper alternative to a laptop or netbook? Try the Hipstreet W7.

£(3)50 common sense?

Appears to be just another version of the Linx and Connect units.

By putting 'SIM free' in your title it might mislead people that this Tablet accepts SIM cards but it doesn't - it is WiFi only.

Says sim free but does it actually take a sim?

Unlike the Linx etc. it seems to have GPS. Bargain!

1024*600 res according to spec sheet

look like the pipo w7, same as linx 7. would confirm if it has gps

pipo.com/pro…161

According to specs on website it has GPS. Though the screen resolution shows at 1024x600 while the Linx 7 shows as IPS panel 1280x800.Linx 7 also shows as Quad-Core Intel Atom processor running at 1.33 GHz. Hipstreet shows as 1.8GHz quad core Intel Atom processor.

Update: no mention of GPS on Hipstreets website nor Amazon (US) site.

Just to clear things up on the processor side, it probably has the same one as the LINX. They turbo boost up to 1.8ghz.

Do you mean the phone would probably perform similar as the linx 7 in addition to being as a phone?

Btw, the link doesn't work. I can't find the phone on cpw website

I just found it on cpw. but it is actually a tablet not a phone??? I was confused because in the title it says SIM FREE??

Calm down dear, it's just a commercial.

I missed the linx 10 deal and felt really sad before Xmas. Thus really want something that is like the linx10 deal.

The best I've seen was the Dell Venue 8 Pro I bought it from Dell for £157.

After I bought it loads of different W8.1 tab came along. That's due to Microsoft giving away Windows licences to tablet manufacturers.

This looks really good. I just wonder if the performance is as good as linx equivalent. What a price though! The specs seem to exceed the linx. All I have seen online in the way of reviews is the 8inch version of this tablet which didn't receive great reviews on the American amazon.com

£49 is very cheap. OK screen is not going to be amazing but the Atom is decent. Windows 8.1 has the best mobile browser of any mobile OS.

16GB of storage is appalling for full Windows with all its bloat on here. The Linx 7 has twice the storage and a higher resolution screen for another tenner (via the eBay seller). Much better buy IMO, particularly given how much better the reviews are for it

According to the CPW specs. It has GPS
Can anyone confirm please?

Common sense is increasingly uncommon. ;-)

If only this was android :(, new to Windows 8 on a tablet... Does this have a Desktop mode?

Well, obviously he meant it was permanently SIM free.

**Woosh**

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but this is cheaper than the Personal Office 365 annual subscription that it comes with! (£59.99 per year, and that includes the upfront discount!). A total bargain for anyone who was mulling over getting Office 365, as they effectively get a free tablet AND a discount!

16GB and that awful screen resolution....
One to avoid!

Just wait around for another Linx deal to pop up.

Your better going for the Tesco deal with £10 new customer or the very deal much better

Tempted to get one of these for my daughter instead of those innotab things that are expensive for apps.

Are there many good windows 8 apps for primary school age kids?

Also is this 64bit or 32bit? could use it with my car OBD port if its 32bit as no 64bit drivers are available for my cable\\

The linx w7 with 32gb for £59 would seem a better buy though on eBay

- The screen resolution will really annoy you after a while (it'll make some desktop programs incompatible...and will give you annoying problems with other programs that have dialog boxes that are too big for the screen).
- The store isn't anywhere near as expansive as Android/iOS --- but there are plenty of excellent games and interactive things for children (Jetpack Joyride, Fresh Paint, Angry Birds, Photo Whirl for discovering new places, Movie Moments video editor, Netflix etc etc). You can also create a separate profile for your child that removes admin privileges & puts in child safety features....and where you can even have Microsoft email you an internet browsing history report every week.
- It is 32bit Windows.
- The Linx 8 (from Very @ £69 using a new credit account voucher code) is the best option. No screen compromises, no mechanical hissing on the headphone port, & a nicer form factor.

*I own an Asus T100...which aside from the included keyboard, slightly better processor and 2GB RAM is very similar to the Linx 7/8/10. With a HDMI cable & mouse, it performs perfectly as a desktop computer. & when I want to use it as a tablet, it performs better and more fluidly than any of the Android ones I used to own. Windows 8.1 has its quirks -- but for me, it is far and away the best mix of productivity and consumption/creativity. Buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and a HDMI cable for an external screen, and your child will also be able to do their school work, then undock for normal tablet uses.

Id agree, screen res is not good enough needs to be 800 width..

16GB with Windows 8.1? useless really, you will end up with couple of GB free space or something like that

Not true. This will have a WimBoot installation - which will give nearer 8GB's of free space.
Still not great....and certainly one to avoid given how many 32GB devices are about with better overall specs.

Does this have a desktop view like normal "laptop" desktop?

Yes, it is a full Windows 8.1 operating system. So you can even run it as a desktop computer using the right peripherals...(I use my setup in desktop extended-screen mode for 90% of the time)

Hmmmm going between the Linx7 or this tablet

Linx 8 @ Very for £69....
(Or wait for another Linx 8 deal to come around).

Don't go for the 7 or the Hipstreet....they are compromised in various ways.

Not really seeing as that would be a huge crock. There are loads of Win 8 tablets under £350
