At £249 you are scraping the barrel for a 4k TV. Hisense are amongst the best of the budget friendly TV manufacturers.
You can purchase the bigger 50" model for £299.

It's never going to match the high end TVs but image quality is surprisingly good for the money.
Probably the best budget brand.
Is there any difference between this and the same available via John Lewis? As you get the longer warranty with JL.

I have one of these and can say that picture for the price is what you would expect, average at best, ps4 looking nice once you tweak a few settings, and HD netflix looks nice. Normal TV looks OK,
Bargain for a 4k TV

I'd primarily use it for the PS4 - don't actually use my TV currently for anything else. I've actually just bought a Pro, would you suggest this TV is decent enough to take advantage or would you suggest a further upgrade? Do any of the lower end Samsungs/Sonys etc actually make a difference, or is it a more significant step up I'd have to make? Due to space constraints, I'd have to go for a 43". Thanks!
Looks like a great price for a 4k tv which isn't just average according to reviews.

Yes with a few tweaks in the settings ps4 would look sweet. So ideal price for what you need it for

I remember an awful company named Goldstar in the 90's. Terrible quality products. They changed their name to LG. The rest is history.
Hisense are by no means the best on the market - far from it - but pretty good for the money. Just don't expect miracles

What are these tweaks you speak of ?
Inside the settings, you can tweak colours sharpness etc. There is a gaming option but the colours look a bit washed out..but it does reduce input lag
