How do Hisense compare with LG?
Great TV. Amazing price.

LG would have a better smart TV offering but for this price you would get one of their pretend 4K TVs which I would just avoid. For the money, this is going to be the better option in terms of image quality.

Pretend 4k? How can you tell which is which? So the cheap LG6300xxx recently was fake 4k?

Maybe they don't ship to European countries. . Maybe they don't accept punts - sorry, Euro. Maybe we already have a border down the ocean. We can but Fly The Flag and request them to post to us.

As an anecdote I've owned similar TVs of both brands and the Hisense has already had to go in for repair in a year. Felt very tacky too, the LG was rock solid, nice components.

You do get a lot of TV for your money with Hisense but check the internet for build quality problems.

Either it's because that model is okay or LG simply don't mention it. I'd just recommended researching any LG TV before you buy.

Probably on the TCL TV's. They aren't as good though
I have this TV in the 65" and for some reason it struggles with ITVHUB / Player! Not sure what the reason is, its fine on all the other telly's in the house.

I had a lg that had to go in repair 3 months in And then 11 months in. Was the uv750v 43" model which wasn't cheap. Can get unlucky I guess, but I may sway towards a Samsung oled on the next. Not a fan of lgs game mode with bad lighting

Yeah horses for courses, I sold mine after having it for almost six years, it was faultless.

The Hisense TV I replaced it with went in for repair within a year and just felt really cheap and nasty in comparison.

Also because of a massive cock up, Hisesnd kept me waiting over six weeks without a TV. No compensation, nothing.

Surely if it can't be repaired on site they have to replace it?! Or at least give you a temporary replacement while yours is being repaired if it's under warranty...

It could be repaired, they just hung around because they thought it wasn't in warranty. Only discovered the mistake after numerous phone calls. It took them about 30 mins to fix it although the problem hasn't completely gone away.

They also tried to charge me for the box to collect it.

Out of warranty the charge would have been about £170 I believe.

Given that video uses chrome subsampling anyway, I doubt this makes much of a difference for TV. It may be more visible if you use a PC or a game console to generate the image, especially a still image.
duckbaby09/07/2019 20:22

So what is the warranty?

My understanding is, as its Costco, if they cant fix it, they'll replace with a similar model at the current time (within the 5 year warranty period)

Anecdotally, I know someone who's Sony TV broke after 3yrs, and Sony (apparently) are the only company that won't allow a panel replacement. So they chose another model (Panasonic) and had a couple hundred quid back for the difference they paid in the first place 😳

I agree, in most situations, you won't notice but it is still very shady business tactics.

That's my understanding (but I could be wrong!)
does the usb on this have enough power to power my passport 4tb drive?
Also £20 off with new member code for purchase over £200. Don't think the codes can stack.
Does anyone know if it has a gaming mode?

It will have a gaming mode in "picture settings" but even if it didn't, you would be able to create your own gaming mode by customising one of the preset picture modes by turning off all picture processing and adjusting the colours and brightness etc.

As a subnote I would recommend turning off all picture processing and local dimming anyway. Of the 2 Hisense TV's I've owned their picture processing isn't great. Image quality is great, just not their processing such as smooth motion, dynamic contrast and local dimming to name a few.

Yes any USB connections on TVs these days will easily power an external hard drive.

I found that costco are very relaxed about returns and claiming on warranties. I returned an xbox that was faulty after a year or so and they didn't even check the fault, just made sure the xbox was in the box and that it was within warranty. Was then offered replacement or money back.

Whats the code? I wonder if it is for brand new members or new to members registering online for the first time.
