The next cheapest is now £405 at currys ebay with code PLAYAPP through the ebay app ebay.co.uk/itm…Vrz
Not based on Android? Is Android TV really so unpopular in UK?
Much is made of this magical 5 year warranty offered with these deals, but the Sale of Goods act offers this with every purchase made?

I claimed against Currys, who swore blind they weren't liable...they still payed out

Ignoring accidental damage, everyone is covered for 5 years, no matter where they bought from, if it is a manufacturing defect.

No doubt why Richer Sounds offer this as standard...

Every stationary electrical device is covered...

Chill out folks

If you're going to give advice you should at least reference the correct legislation! The Consumer Rights Act 2015 has been in place almost 4 years now (in October) and does not give you any absolute right to a replacement or repair. After 6 months plus of ownership of a product, the burden is on the consumer to prove that the item was faulty from the time of ownership.

Which give some sound advice here:

Which isn't too hard to prove if there is no sign of abuse.

I never said it doesn't take some level of perseverance, but it a right that every consumer has.

So I got the naming wrong, but the right of the consumer I haven't.
So other than the name of the law, am I wrong, Zico?

Haven't got a clue what you are on about but the facts remain this is sold with a 5 year warranty as can be said with Costco's tvs and also richer sounds - don't Mislead people into thinking all retailers give the same warranty when they don't.

I never said they give the same warranty?... But if my TV stops working within 5 years, I'll envoke whatever the law is called to provide me with a repair or replacement at no cost to me. It may not be as straight forward to claim but if I can get Curry's to fulfill their obligations under the law with no cost to me, I fancy my chances with the rest.

You got lucky with curry's but your comment is misleading in that all appliances are covered under a ' magical' 5 year warranty.

They ain't and you shouldnt assume they are on the strength of one single claim against one retailer.

This is sold with a 5 year guaranteed guarantee in writing - that's peace of mind for those buying it - no what ifs!

This is a TV thread, the law provides a solid 5 years+ guarantee against manufacturing defects.

Convenience isn't a million miles away from "peace of mind'. I still know my rights... One off it is not... You continue to believe the excuses you are given... I don't.

Ok Mr Bean - thanks for your inputs.
I expect any TV to last 5 years minimum, but if it doesn't, I am protected under consumer law.
And that is why Richers sounds offer six... They know...

You can NOT back it up sadly because if you could then make no mistake shoppers would be all over your comment.

You got lucky - others don’t want to take the chance, so please it’s over - what you achieved ( assuming it’s real ) is not guaranteed for others fact.

Not based on Android? Is Android TV really so unpopular in UK?

I think it's unpopular because TV manufacturers prioritise Freeview Play (catch-up enabled EPG) on UK TV's, it's not currently compatible with Android TV.

I think you did - after 4 years 6 months, the max you are entitled to under consumer law is a 25% (10% in Scotland) refund (proportional refund based on how much of 6 years is left or 5 years in Scotland). I know it was probably with the best of intentions, but others are right, you did mislead others (and badly so).

As for thinking no visible signs of abuse may constitute proof of a fault at point of sale, that is quite funny - maybe at the family dinner table or the court of a pub, but in a court of law, you would need an engineer report, which the retailer may well challenge if they could be bothered.
Would this be a better deal than something like a George Forman grill?
This any good? In need of a tv I have a code for a store I can get this for £370
