Your mistress said 58" better than 55". Never mind.

No his mistress used to say 3" more was a good thing..
I bit the bullet and bought a Philips 50" for £263 last week. O
Aside from the additional 8" would there be any reason to go for this other a mainstream brand like Philips! This seems to be getting a fair amount of heat...

That was the length of your mistresses whip ...the one she used on you
I bought a hisense when they first hit our shores in 2015 16. I have carefully researched them in 2015 and then now. They definatley gave you lots of bang for your buck in 2015, maybe to make a mark and probaly at a loss making start just to get people talking. Nowawdays they have cut back on the quailty for sure
Birmingham Costco never has stock, has no record of stock and tell me there's no stock coming.

That's a shame.

Yes. Read the AVForum review of the hisense. It recommends the Philips 50PUS6753 second as an alternative.
avforums.com/rev…431

I too went for the 50" Philips on the eBay offer. But the version they recommend on AVForum, which I managed to bag for £304 with the 20% off ebay code. Mainly went for that as it has ambilight and it will be great in the boys bedroom (he will love it).

How are you finding the 50" Philips?

Waiting for delivery, should be today. If someones in, then ill have to get it connected up, and have a play, i want to see if i can see a difference in tv picture quality, as we have standard sky, not skyQ. I also want to check out some 4k films through the xbox one to see the quality.

I was told by the Solihull branch that delivery wasn't an option as it's an in-store offer only! :/

So it came last night. Set it up and have a quick watch of sky, this didn't look any different in SD channels. (Maybe slightly worse as I have gone from a 40" to 50"). I had to turn off the motion blur settings stuff as it causes TV to look like a cheap soap opera.
Hd channels looked clearer(love island was used as a test and I was impressed).
Xbox tested and it looked really good. Xbox detected hdr and suggested changing to this on its output. Battlefield 5 looked massively better.
Will continue to test things over next few days.

Good stuff
So it turn out that although the picture quality is pretty good I am unable to stream video content from the pc to the TV over the network(wired or wireless) which is a right royal pain. The older TV could do this and played pretty much everything. The Philips struggles, even with files that are .MP4 and the TV specs say it should play this. I'm looking for a fix but needs to be quick before TV goes back..
