I have never heard of the brand but I see them being posted on here more and more. There is no doubt that they offer a lot of product for the money.

to the owners of this mode, what picture settings do you use to maximise it's capabilities? thanks

Hisense are a great brand but please, avoid AO.com like the plague.

I tried to connect a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" to this tv with a hdmi 2.0 cable but can not get it to show 4K.

I've read that 3D is pretty bad. That's my reason not to buy it

I've read few reviews but would prefer some real opinion from someone who owns it. Really after 4K and 3D.

does this have HDR feature or local HDR

no, but it might happen with future update. Not much hope though.

What 3D mode does this use?
and what is all the fuss about HDR, what exactly is it and why do i need it?

As far as I'm aware this isn't possible via hdmi, I don't even think the hdmi is 2.0 on any mac yet. You need to use a DisplayPort / thunderbolt to hdmi cable. The full 60 hz should be possible too if the screen supports it driven by our 2015 MacBooks.

My Hisense 55EC591U is a thing of beauty.

Not sure if that helps anyone, but ALOT of bang for my buck (cost me about £400).

That's one hell of a contradiction!

I would warn anyone who is considering buying a hisense. I got this 58" 4K 3D model from AO.com a couple of months ago. Without doubt the worse TV I have ever owned and it went back last week. The 3D is shocking, very bad ghosting. The aspect ratio of 2:35:1 movies were wrong when playing media files, it would stretch them to fill the screen and there was no way of changing this, Hisense had a very unhelpful and rude tech guy who just told me "well that's the way it is as its trying to upscale and it's not considered a fault". Lastly it creaked all the time, the entire back of the tv was made of plastic and it was so noisey. I finally managed to send it back for a refund. I opted for a Panasonic Viera 4K curved 3D set which it in a different league.... even the remote controls, Hisense is cheap, light and clicky. Bottom line, you pay cheap, you get cheap. I was prepared to give Hisense a fair crack of the whip and would never ever return. On a plus for Hisense, great 4K quality, not amazing on SD, so so on 1080p but fantastic on 4K, that for me would be the only plus.

in case you missed in other AO threads, I won't buy until this is fixed...

Isn't that illegal? Doesn't DSR or whatever replaced it (Consumer Act or whatever) preclude them from doing this?

Original Poster

Are you not covered by the distance selling regulations for returns ?

Doesn't state if its HDCP 2.2 compliant so watching 4K will be massive issue if its not.

HDR allows for a higher range of values to be used to specify the colour levels of each pixel so you get much more subtlety in areas of similar colours e.g. black areas (instead of being all black) and very bright areas (not just whited out). Needs your source (Sky, Bluray, Streaming) etc to have it though (but seeing as you're likely to own a TV for a few years it's worth considering).

that rubbish they spout does not alter your statutory consumer rights, it is designed to minimise the number or returned items but has no legal basis. the reality is you will get a full refund if you require it and the law states this should be the case - AO will simply make YOU put more effort in for the refund

I will steer clear of this AO shower - see no reason to deviate from Richer Sounds and John Lewis who will happily price match and are reputable resellers

Just had mail back from Hisense about the difference between the LTDN58K700xwtseu model and this one which is the HE58KEC730UWTSD model stating the only difference between the 2 is the coulour of the plastics. Might be of interest to people searching around for info on this tv

I can totally agree with your comments, I sent mine back last week after owning it for 10 days. It took them from day one to get AO.com to agree it was faulty & was passed between them & Hisense for the rest of the time. I now own the 65" 2016 Hisense model can't fault this one!! Good price too for its size & features!

Yesterday's deal (this one) took £40 off, today's deal is a new code which takes off 10% (thus a better deal). Looks like the OP edited. Bit confusing as we now have two deals for the same thing with different conversations going on !

As far as I remember, I had to get a returns authorisation code from Hisense which I then passed over to AO, they then processed a return and gave me a collection date to pick it up. It was tough getting it accepted as faulty but was this was done the refund was pretty quick. I didn't have tracking though.
