Couldn't find any reviews on argos but I did on amazon, also found for £44.99 including free delivery, only 1 left though.

Got this a few weeks back at this price . Loads of connection choices including Bluetooth , jack or optical and sounds great .

120W? It's 30W

hmmm. always wanted a soundbar but they were always too expensive or the cheaper ones got bad reviews. Does anyone know if this is any good?

Its worth £50 - it is a Hitachi! In other words a cheap device, badged with an old quality name.

If you can pay £99, there is a Bush (again cheap & nasty, but with lots of features) Bush

But if you want quality & excellent reviews then...Pioneer - get this one

Get one with a built in, or separate sub. The ones without aren't that much better than your existing TV speakers.

I'd avoid this and I recommend the Samsung HW-H355.it's cheap and sounds great.there are loads of horrible soundbars out there.and "specs" alone mean nothing.most if not all these sub £100 soundbars are complete waste of time and money and provide zero improvement over tv sound quality.
you should be able to pick that samsung up for around £85-£95

I suspect that the Argos figures are guff.

But wattage ratings on low end audio gear like this are meaningless without a bunch of other information relating to the amp and the speakers themselves. They won't handle anything close to the numbers you see without a massive amount of distortion anyway.

Also, 120w is not four times as loud as 30w if you break it down to simple terms. There are logarithmic scales involved. It's not a simple multiple.

As for this one? No sub is not great. But it's still likely to be better than the internal speakers on the majority of TV's ...

If you're going to spend £100, I'd advise you to have a look at the soundbars Richer Sounds have - listened to the Yamaha ones in store and they are really good.

Cheers, think I'll give this a miss then

Just had a look at richer sounds - they currently have Cambridge Audio Minx for £99 (Store specific). I would go for that if you could get one

Argos' figures are probably in PMPO, not RMS, to make it sound better than it actually is. PMPO is a made-up term really. Marketers love it.

Generally PMPO is 3-4x more than the RMS value, so 30W is roughly correct, but probably not exact.

methinks barryp1 is probably right. peak is 4x of rms.

I'm a bit naive when it comes to this stuff but can a bluetooth adapter be plugged into a TV and then the speaker will pick it up without having to plug a load of wires into it?

. . . and can TV zapper control volume of sounbar
