I bought one last time they were this price. It's a great drive, much quieter than you might expect. Hot.
Me too (though I got the Pro). Good product.
Have some heat.
Damned, can't buy it from France !
I assume this is compatible with USB2 too? I only have USB2 ports.
would this work with a media player like the boxxe box or Dune? and if so is there any wit hUSB3 connections?
cheers
This will work with the boxee box, although its usb 2 only....
Any usb 2 ports it should work with, usb 3 as well.

thank you, would this need power as well? (i.e. my potable harddrives need power when plugged to a xbox / dvd player etc) or will it work just plugged into the boxee?

Is it easy to take out and put directly into the computer?

Not if you want to keep the case! In this case you're better checking other recent deals for internal 2TB drives
Good find, ordered
Good price! We're getting one for work.

Ordered one, thanks Very quick service from ebuyer too by the looks of it, according to their site my order is already being picked and prepared for dispatch.

People have reported this drive is actually 7200RPM

Good news if it is, I did notice it was only listed as 5400RPM but it's a great price so I ordered one anyway. Will confirm whether it's 7200 or not when it arrives.

I got one of these the other day intending to connected it as a NAS drive to my router, which has a USB port. It did not work - the unit has no on/off switch, but only comes on when plugged into a PC, and it didn't come on at all connected to my router. I had wanted it to be available when the PC was offline. Rather than go back and quibble with DABS, where I bought it, I opened the case, took the disk out and stuck it into a dedicated NAS unit I had. It has actually worked out ok for value - a 2tb HDD for £85 or so. But I wasn't impressed with the case - opening it up almost destroyed it, and I couldn't see any reason to leave out an on/off switch except to save money. I'm not voting either way on this deal but thought I'd post this in case anyone else is thinking of trying to use it as a NAS unit.
Just paid this for 1tb usb 2.0!
Just gone up to £95 now ......
I bought one and it's great. Out of the box and plugged straight in to laptop and working.
Got one a while back, very nice, was a bitch to get out of the case though.

Thanks for the info, what speed is the drive?

No idea. Sorry.
All gone! Nice find, OP.

hi .. you might find the "hitachi feature tool" could set the sleep mode on the external drive (i dont know i dont have a hitachi drive) ... I've had WD external drives which although they have an on off button its very rare i use it as its invariably powered off when i pull the plug ...
