I've seen this posted a few times. Has anyone bought one and how would you rate this TV?
Quite tempted.

I bought one when our 6 year old Toshiba died. It depends what you want from the TV if you want a large one I'd go for it. Its a nice TV you might think the sound is rubbish at first but a little fiddling with the sound frequencies and you get some bass from it which is more than liveable with. If your after its smart TV functions then it might not be for you. It has quite a few apps now including a browser on the actual TV and you can control it with your phone if you use Android or iOS which works well. A few apps that people seem to want are missing such as Netflix however personally I use my TiVo box for that (if not that it would another device).

Some people like to point out that these as well as many other own brand TV's are made by a company called Vestle. Some say to avoid these others just point it out. Now we have two Vestle made TV's which are coming up to their 6th year and they are both still going strong so I wouldnt let that put you off (intact I've just bought another Vestle made TV.)

Regarding picture quality it's very good, of course you may want to play with the settings to get it just how you like it (I personally didn't) the TV does look larger than it is too because of its thin bezel around the edge which is rather a nice feature at this price point. Now if someone was to ask me about it I would truthfully say get one. For the money they are brilliant, another point to make is that due to its glossy screen the viewing angles are extremely good.

Now if there is anything else you would like to know feel free to ask and ill reply A.S.A.P. If you want a link to the apps I can give you that as well. I hope I've helped

Thanks,
Brett

Thanks you for your helpful and fair review. Appreciated the response

Thanks, looks interesting for a cheap-ish screen and some smart functionality. Don't forget if you have an Amex card you can potentially save another £5 off - hotukdeals.com/dea…634

Probably made in the same Chinese sweatshop, but for another tenner:

I cannot recall Bush EVER being a quality manufacturer, I'm sure others may be able to refresh my memory though?

Brett can you watch Netflix on browser rather than app. Please post link to available apps.

That's a really good point although I can't confirm tonight I'll have a look when I can. Hopefully tomorrow morning as I've never tried it. Here's the link to the apps Hitachi TV Apps

It is going back a fair few years, nay decades, to the 40's and 50's...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_(brand)

Yes that's another Vestle branded TV. Both Bush and Hitachi have licensed their names to these products (although Bush is owned by the Home Retail Group I believe) as for being made in China, I don't think they are I could be wrong but I believe they are made in Europe hence the low cost as all the import and export costs (and shipping) aren't as high as they would be coming from China.

Probably not any use to you but I though I'd let you know

Yep, that's the same TV just bigger at 42 inches. Which is the model I went for however they are both the same internally just different sizes. Everything I've written applies to both sizes.

Prefer the 40 inch as its edge-lit LED. Shame none in stock. In 2 minds to get or not.

If it's Vestel, it could be Turkey. I think I'd prefer a cheap chinese import than Turkish electricals, just ask anyone whose Beko appliance has killed a relative

Yes I do remember that problem with Beko appliances, I also remember some recalls. We had one although it was an older one at the time and never had any problems but anyway everyone has there own preference. I haven't had a Vestle TV go up in smoke yet (touch wood)

so in the list demand 5, 4OD and catch up tv are not listed does that mean that you cant download them onto this tv? was looking for a smart 40" thort id cracked it thanks Lisa

I was unfortunate enough to buy this TV about 6 months ago for £290. For a TV that calls itself "smart" it is absolutely shocking.

It turns itself off all the time when I have my pc connected to it (and no it's not the pc going onto sleep mode). It keeps bringing up messages every hour or so too asking if I would like to turn it off, when I'm clearly in the middle of using it.

Not only that, when it turns on from stand by brings up more messages forcing you to change channels / glitching to the freeview tv guide... So when you turn it on and you're on the hdmi channel ready to play xbox or use your pc, it automatically send you to freeview tv guide, completely screwing up your vibe... Why assume I want to watch freeview when I turn it on FFS?

There is no alarm clock on this TV which is also a disappointment.. I expected a Smart TV to at least have an alarm clock that can wake me up in the morning exactly as all of my TV's have done since the early 90's. Instead I have to turn it on myself and usually answer loads of unnecessary messages just to get a picture. Oh, and that reminds me of the remote. For the best part it simply doesn't work. You have to be trained in precision archery to use it, because unless it's aimed directly (and not an inch away) from the infrared receiver, it doesn't work at all.

This isn't a Smart TV it a Smart-**** TV that tries too hard and interrupts you too much when you're using it. Smart TV's were designed to offer an effortless experience to the user. This TV is like working with stuck up **** that always thinks it right. Don't even bother!

oh dear just got it as well

I wouldnt touch this TV unless it was selling for the same price as the Blaupunkts etc

Plenty of reviews on here each time it's listed - not very favourable.
