"I triple guarantee you, there are no American soldiers in Baghdad."

You would be better off getting the new Panasonic 800, 42" TV at around £600 as I feel that the contrast ratio is far more noticeable than the difference between 1080i and 1080p resolution

Basically the contrast ratio on the Hitachi is realy poor (Blacks will be dull grey and you will not be able to see any detail in darker scenes)

Uhh, 1500:1 is excellent for an LCD. The highest ever measured was 2300:1, and that set costs 5 grand.

Britain "is not worth an old shoe"

well i have one of these sets from richer sounds, the picture is great, go to comet and see the set on in there (comet price 799) , used setting from avforms for best picture.

ps would recommend richr sounds if store near you, because for just 59 pounds extra you can have a 5 year warranty

seen contrast ratio at 30000:1 on NEW samsung models, Panasonic new models now have at least 10000:1, so 1500:1 does sound very poor, Infact seen the Hitachi TV in comet and the picture quality was very poor compared to other TV's around same price.

Never make comparisons on contrast figures quoted my manufacturers - they are as similarly useless as the power output figures quoted for stereos etc...

Also, don't goto to Currys/Comet etc, they set up certain panels (Samsung) to look better using a better source material - this is because they get increased sales commission selling that brand.

thats dynamic contrast not real contrast. If this is 1500:1 real contrast thats fine, the Sony 40V3000 is 1800:1 contrast and 15000:1 dynamic.

also do they not have these in store? I can't reserve it..

Sorry but have you actually SEEN he picture - i have it is VVVVVV POOR! - it is just so dull and with a lot of motion lag -better to spend a little more and get better... sorry Cold...

Sorry but I disagree - panels are made as we know by a limited number of companies, they are then put in Various panels, as such to RUN the TV it needs software/hardware to run this -some are better than others - its like putting a V8 engine in a car and not plumbing it in correctly, if it is done well the results are excellent.

In MY opinion Hitachi do this VERY poorly; friends have purchased hitachi and then seen other panels/Tvs and regretted it

Re going into Comet etc -it is a good idea for general stuff - try Richer Sounds - if they in RS are wiring them in different I am sure the owner woudl like to know - look at their website....
