You do know that Hitachi is not a well know brand anymore and that argos own them now .

Nasty own brand tat. Same as logik, technika etc.

Please do not buy

Argos do not own the Hitachi company. Just pay them for the rights to use their name.

Nasty own brand tat. Same as logik, technika etc.

And Toshiba and Sharp and Finlux for that matter

Argos reviews lol you believe them ?? Read which magazine this is far from a best buy !

How do you know Argos don't make reviews up ?????

It isn't even freeview hd ! Lol

crap rebranded vestel tat usually, backlight bleed, cloudy black levels and over saturated colours.
its cheap own branded crap, you get what you pay for and for this much money you're barely getting a cheap PC monitor.

this is for charvs who can't even afford the prerequisite samsung 50" hanging over their working fireplace.

2 scart sockets too!!!

thats cos the UK is still using a socket that was invented in the 70's!

Thats what I was on about, they use the name for the tvs .

Banned

its like people on here that boast about buying Technika TVs always akes me laugh.

I bet the neighbours are really impressed by the quality when they come round for drinks

Absolutely hilarious

How are Hitachi not a well known brand? Aren't they the same company that won the £4.5bn train contract in July?

They are a well known brand but they have nothing to do with making the TV, Argos bought the rights to use their name on electrical products like TV's which Argos get Vestel to make for them and stick Hitachi name on the front.

Happens with Sharp, JVC and some other well known names too.

Im sure I read that Argos buy DOA logik refurb sets, that are rebadged Vestals. Then ship them to Japan to be rebadged and boxed as Hitachi, and to insure quality and consistancy then check all have the correct levels of unaceptable light bleed and motion blurring. Once shipped back to the uk they nock a few quid off so that chavs can snap them up! You have been warned....

Or maybe thats just a dream, rather than guessing what this is, just dont fork your £££ out until you read a few independant, informed reviews and check forums for known issues. That said this is probably just an older Tv thats probably going end of life, its old lcd and not edge lit so probably not going to suffer from any light bleed issues but don't expect then same crisp clear fast moving images on new Samsung, LG, Panny ect ect ......

For the price, and size for spec its seems good value, will give it heat as its a good deal for 46" of full HD. Anyone find 46" full hd new cheaper?

Why are you a millionaire who sits lives in a Kensington hotel? Wake up and smell the coffee. The reality is most people the vast majority of the UK let alone the world do not have the a budget over £500 for a TV!

can you correct wiki in that … can you correct wiki in that casehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitachi"Hitachi manufactures many types of electronic products including TVs, Camcorders, Projectors and Recording Media under its own brand name"

Sure I can correct Wikipedia, anyone can and that's why it's not to be trusted 100%

It's no secret that Home Retail Group who own Argos have the UK rights to the Hitachi name for TV products, Argos are allowed to use their name on products made to Argos' price and requirements. Vestel, the third largest TV manufacturer in the world make these for Argos and put the Hitachi name on them. They have rights to use other names too such as Bush, Ministry of Sound, and others I can't be arsed to look up.

What Hitachi do elsewhere in the world I can't say but the fact is they've not been a significant TV manufacturer for years, they might make trains and trucks for the UK but they don't make UK sold TVs

Edit from Wikipedia
Hitachi Electronics

Hitachi manufactures many types of electronic products including TVs, Camcorders, Projectors and Recording Media under its own brand name. In some countries such as Great Britain the name is used under licence on TV products such as with the retailer Argos

yes I do.....OK no, but do I have an expensive TV? not really but your comment seems to generalise that no one has any money and the majority of us cannot afford a TV over £500. really?
Cos the likes of Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic and sharp and bringing out more and more very large screen TVs which are a lot more than £500 and they must be selling to someone somewhere.

if you cannot afford to go for a higher quality brand and you MUST have a 46" LCD right now, fair enough, but otherwise, save up a bit more, borrow some money or get finance and get something better than this.
reality is, you get what you pay for and this is a cheap, rebranded LCD set which is built to a price.
seriously if you need a TV this big and only have £400 to spend...save up more and buy better.
or buy smaller like a 42"

why the **** not, you're only here once. reach for the stars!

or, you could just save up a bit more and not buy a **** tv like this one from Argos.......

Don't need to justify anything. I haven't mentioned what tv I have or how much I paid for it. You buy cheap, you get bad quality.

ha. sexual innuendo. is your smaller.

no, larger and cost more, due to more features.

Moving pictures. No..its a radio.
Actually I haven't seen anything on it cost I spent so much on it I can't afford the electricity to run it.

Had to laugh at that, pretty much everyone I know has paid over £500 for their TV, and we're all working class folk on average or below incomes.

The only people that can't afford it are those that have no idea how to manage their money.

no i don't have an iphone.
and never will.

whatsThePoint

which means it would of made more sense for you to buy something like … which means it would of made more sense for you to buy something like this, but luckily for the people who make overpriced tv's people like you lack sense and value a name over value for money, do you own an iphone by any chance?

Another HUKD member that cannot tell the difference between cheap and value. If this TV was £600 it would be cr*p, but its only £379 guess what.........ITS STILL CR*P.

whatsThePoint

so tell me what faults you have seen in the picture on this tv that make … so tell me what faults you have seen in the picture on this tv that make it unwatchable?oh wait, your someone else who is talking out their backside because you've never even seen one let alone one thats switched onso guess what, the only cr.. is what your full of

So a TV has to be unwatchable before it becomes cr*p.....and i ve yet to read a user review that says " I can t believe i was stupid enough to buy this " so they are best ignored. I ve heard this a million times before , look its not my fault you buy cheap crap...........live with it.
What ever you reply i accept .......my life rule.....i don t argue with drunks or idiots.

Ha. Awesome. You can't see one before you buy it as Argos generally don't display them. So without buying it you wont see it in use. Its a cheap LCD. So go view any cheap nasty own brand in any other electronic store

whatsThePoint

no need to go view, i bought a very cheap m&s own brand one which … no need to go view, i bought a very cheap m&s own brand one which countless people on this site have said has an excellent picture, so all your doing is making yourself look an idiot by saying your capable of judging something you have never seen

Maybe not all cheap TV's are crap, but without viewing one, or a real review by a reputable site, it's just pot luck.
I wouldn't buy an expensive TV without viewing it myself first, never mind a cheap one.
