Im really tempted, only thing is the 50hz. But I wont really be gaming on it, and it'd be used in the living room for movies and general tv watching. If anyone has any other experiences with Hitachi's I'd love to see their comments.

Good price for a 50 inch don't think the picture will be all that great and I think gaming would be a issue
I have just paid £639 for a 50 inch sony and the picture quality is wicked but not ever one is that fussy on picture quality
Where I am
Couple of reviews on this tv say there's a problem with the sound that's probably why there throwing in a sound bar lol
Voted hot on the price with sound bar nothing cheaper any where on this model

I brough this last week - without the sound bar! (damn!) its actually pretty decent, have had no problems, sound good, picture good, i had a 5 year old panasonic viera and its better than that!

just ordered this tv and managed to get the sound bar as well as the sound bar appears to be out of stock in most places. thanks for the post.
just hope the tv is worth the price.

Damn, 50hz is the only thing holding it back, need at least 60 ! then i would insta-buy it still hot though

sound bar oos! otherwise hot

Got this tv. Good tv but sound is terrible

If anyone can find a similar tv with 60hz then let me know please ! its really hard trying to find a fairly cheap 50inch !

Basically the difference between 50 hz and 100 hz is that the screen is basically refreshing itself 2 timex faster, meaning when youre playing video games and watching fast paced stuff like football, with the 100hz its refreshing the screen twice as much per second reducing ghosting.

Surely that should be the main criteria??? Its a TV . All you do is look at the screen!!

Having grown up with 2 channels in black and white and having to put the 19 inch set on 5 minutes prior to watching the programme in order for the tube to warm up and praying that the next door neighbour didn't decide to put her hairdryer on , all these wondrous huge televisions are all miraculous to me .

I bought this last week having returned my 50 inch Isis from tesco. The sound quality is even worse! It crackles at low volume I really didn't like it!

I'm sure all these tvs can now do 60hz aswell

Just bought this TV last night from Argos clearance bargains @stanley for £299.

I see someone has answered your first question, do you need any help with the other 9?

Good price but 50hz/60hz refresh isn't going to great on football, it is a good deal but if your into sport and will be watching in HD get something with 100hz or more

I got this for £259 instore. The picture is good to be fair especially for the money and the sound isn't as bad as everyone is saying in fact I don't consider it to be an issue. It has frozen for a few seconds when I was on Netflix other than that I haven't had any issues. Be aware that this isn't actually manufactured by Hitachi but Argos themselves. It is simply a Argos branded TV with a Hitachi logo.

Get the projector.
I just installed one on to a blank wall. Now have 126 inch diagonal picture and can't believe I did not do this years ago. My dilemma is I need to find a very large screen or special paint.

16W sound means 2x8w speakers. Usually most TVs have 2x10. You will notice that the most complains about poor sound are about TVs with 2x8W.

Direct lit LED is a tehnology pioneered by LG I think, so I assume it's got an LG panel.

Response time 8.5ms... I can't remember last time I've seen a manufacturer disclosing this info in a TV description.

50hz might be an issue for some, some don't notice it. Usually means when a football ball moves whickly you will see some trails, also in fast panning, it looks a bit jerky.

All in all, not sure if the extra few inches in size are worth it, there were some proper LG tvs posted lately that might be better, even though smaller screen.

Coming up as £429 with soundbar for me!

Can you not just buy this, then take the TV back and keep the soundbar a week later?

Or am I being a wet biscuit here?

Can someone explain to me how I get the soundbar free with this? Getting a price of £429.98

I got the 42inch version a few months back from Argos.

Picture quality is pretty good considering the price. Sound isn't though but can't really expect too much at this price point. Always connected to external sound system when watching movies etc. Having noticed any issues with the 50hz whilst watching football or gaming but that might be me!

Maybe because the free sound bar was expired yesterday

If the soundbar deal has expired then the title is incorrect and should be changed. Or expire this deal. I have not voted either way and am considering whether to buy this now. Don't need 100hz or smart TV, anybody know of any other decent TV deals that are 50 inches or more for around this price. Thanks in advance to sensible replies.

I bought the 50 inch hitachi smart tv from argos and the sound bar excellent choice highly recommend picture fantastic and the sound is excellent very happy with this.

I would buy this Tele if only it was 100Hz
50Hz on a screen size as big as this is mad!

My sound keeps cutting when nobody speaks. What the ..?

Anyone else having this weird problem.?

Bought hitachi 50", sounds absolutely awful, very tinny. Thought it was a one off so took it back and exchanged for the same one.......exactly the same. Bought a sound bar still awful so guess what.
