Reduced power idle modes;Unique to Hitachi drives, the Deskstar 7K1000 features three advanced low-power idle modes - active, unload and low-power. Together, they reduce power consumption at the drive level up to 20%, optimize non-operational latency and lower drive temperature for cooler system operation.

Hitachi Deskstar 1TB 3.5" Hard Drive - 32mb Buffer, 7200 RPM, Serial-ATA 3Gb/s connection.
An industry first, the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 series hard disk drive delivers up to one terabyte of storage capacity for demanding consumer and commercial computing products. It leverages the industry's most reliable perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) techniques and the latest advancements in silent acoustics, shock protection, and head technology to maximize capacity, performance and field reliability. Best-in-class power management and thermal emissions help manufacturers meet energy compliance targets and extend drive life.

PCWorld have these at £199.99, so their 110% price match should bring this down to £84.49 AND you can use quidco for reserve & collect, Bargain!!

EDIT: none locally to me but u can phone them up and get it delivered as far as i know

Without reading the link, I remember that, but to be fair was about 6-7 years ago.

Personally I've never owned an IBM/Hitachi drive but I'm willing to take a punt on this. 3 year warranty, so as long as you take backups, which anyone who cares about their stuff will do, then there's no worries right?

Go to the bottom of that page where the huge list of models is. Now consider the number of different models there are between the 75GXP (IBM) and 7K1000 (Hitachi).
