Yes its on argos

Got this last time it was available earlier this year. We love the TV and have had zero problems. The apps are limited but we don't care because we have an Xbox and are planning on getting an Apple TV anyway. Picture is great for the price. Sound is fine, not spectacular but fine. Haven't seen a better price for a 42" since we bought ours too. Makes it feel like an even nicer deal.

Don't forget £4.50 Topcashback, every little helps.

Fab deal!

Bought one last week. Great television for the price. Excellent picture. Smart apps are limited and you can't access normal Internet through the TV. Have a tablet so don't need to anyway.

Who makes this TV? It not gonna be Hitachi, most OEMs are dead.

Shouldn't you add that to the title

if you buy an android TV stick for £27 on eBay you can plug into the HDMI socket and use the internet

Whats the apps like? Because Panasonic 1s are poor.

I would avoid then.

Samsung, Panasonic, lg or Sony (the last few proper TV manufacturers) are the only ones I would consider.

Could this run Plex? I am not put off by Vestel, not for this price.

I got one last night for our bedroom and I think its a crackin set for the money :-) I plugged in the lan cable just to check it worked and the DLNA picked up our Plex Server on the main puter in the livingroom. Tried a few movies and most worked only some of the higher end MKVs seemed to struggle with jumpiness and lack of sounds ! sure it would play xvids etc ok. ( Can you tell I am no techie ! )

anyone else got this TV ? I have tried using the HDMI from my laptop to TV and aint getting no sound !! works on other TV in sons bedroom !! 2hours of my life wasted last night trying to solve this - anyone had similar experience ?

Bought this just over a week ago and couldn't find login to post it here. At first I was sceptical, but it is a genuine deal with little else coming close to the features and quality for the money.

Overall the quality is good. Black screen has a small amount of mottled light bleed, but this is being hypercritical. Remote is a little slow however. Doesn't appear to auto switch with HDMI

Apps - Not an Android device so limited to the handful of apps that Hitachi supply. Web Browser not available via normal menus, but does become available with the companion "Smartvue" virtual remote app.

Although the spec says "Wifi dongle required" this is not actually necessary. The Argos deal does give you a discounted dualband dongle which can be used elsewhere. Ethernet port will give you all of the internet services you need, but for the possible inconvenience of cables (Ethernet is the recommended connection if you use DLNA HD files - works well with Plex and Serviio)

It's possible to connect wireless keyboard and mouse via the USB port, but not all devices are compatible (my mouse worked, but keyboard is not fully functioning)

Note: This TV does not appear on the Argos web pages, but is listed in the paper catalogue only. Searching for the Cat number will reveal it online.

ARgos - a special pirate retailer?

Don't waste your money on this tv. It's terrible. I bought it about a month ago and I wish I hadn't. It's very poor quality!!

I too have bought this and its one of 5 in the house (samsung, sony, panasonic) and the picture quality is superb, much better then the other sets. My only criticism is the sound, usable but not brilliant. Its loud enough but hardly any bass. I might be able to improve it in the settings but apart from turning the bass option on have not as yet tried anything else.

My mum is looking for a tv and thinking of getting her this......

Morrisons do the giftcard 1p off petrol for every £10 in giftcards.....if they do Argos, can I buy £300 argos vouchers to get 30p off per litre, fill up my tank and save £20+ off my petrol too?

Boo - just checked they dont do argos giftcards!!

Yes you can record onto a USB thumb or external HDD

can plex be used to stream movies from laptop to this?

Yes. It seems to pick up any DLNA server present on your network. Either use the Wifi adaptor that Argos offer as a deal with this TV, or connect via ethernet

But if there is a Tesco near you, you can get 150 CC points for £50 Argos giftcards, so this would mean 900 CC pts to buy the TV. That is worth £27 if you exchange for x3 CC boost deals. And you get 2p/ltr off at Tesco for each £50 you spend in there, so you'd get 12p off for £300 worth of cards. Tempted?

would defo recommend getting a chromecast over an apple TV. Seriosuly the open source nature of the chromecast allows for a much, much wider range of apps
