For those put of by the in-store only you can price match at other shops (john lewis, etc) and pay about £20 for del.

Contrast ratio is only 1500:1 which is good but not ground breaking

But at that price!!!!

HOT ! ! ! !
:-D

Just noticed, NO DVI, if that puts anyone off!

Still, it has 2 HDMI, pc & s-video! good enough for me.

Was in a local shop yesterday and the picture quality is really good, the guy said these are great.

u can use a dvi to hdmi adapter/cable, this is hot not by much but hot nontheless

My mate has one of these and the picture quality is great.

Plays freeview with very good quality and the PS3 plays great on it as well.

Plus it has a motorized base so you can angle the TV with the remote.

Thats what the guy in the shop had on, think it was 'Call of Duty 4' totally blew me away!!

Its a fight between Hitachi & Philips, but this seems like a winning price!

In only seems low when you compare it to the fashionable 'dynamic' contrast ratio's on other TV's, which isn't actually the true contrast ratio.

Good TV, although the 42" 1080p Vistron is cheaper.

Still a hot deal though as it's a quality screen.

£20? is that how much richersounds charge for delivery or john lewis, sneaking suspicion delivery will be a lot higher charge to n.ireland, what number are people using to call to do pricematching as i know their website doesnt pricematch...hot deal..will try my luck in morning.

thats what i thought but no john lewis in n.ireland but if i remember right from an old samsung deal thread with john lewis i could phone one of their stores, bluewater i think to do pricematch so may try that in morning, only thing is john lewis's £65 charge to n.ireland takes some edge off the deal

also no optical out connection

I think i'm right in saying panasonic, canon and hitachi use the same panels, just like lg philips tie and sony/samsung. Voted hot me course.

honest- said £599 on the tv add.. worth giving them a bell.

we have one of these tv's bought a few weeks back at 659.00 which includes 5 year warranty, the picture is fantastic thru ps3 and v+.

Do not let the salesmen try and put you off, i rang one store told none in stock but it was a poor tv anyway, rang another store and reserved one, when i got there , they tried like mad to get me to buy another set(all more expensive).

Comet sell the tv if you want to see it in the flesh and they want 749 pounds for it.

p.s can confirm the argos tv advert clearly stated £599 bank holiday weekend price, richer sounds still better in my opinion if you want the 5 year warranty which is a bargain at just 59 pounds.

dont John Lewis price match and have 5 yrs warranty?

I went to richersounds to have a look at this tv a few weeks ago and was told by the salesman it was'nt as good as the lg etc etc, which of course was more money, have to admit the pic on the lg looked better but that could be due to richersounds setting them up differently, so I didnt buy it on that occasion.

Lets hope that argos do there but £100 voucher and get a £10 one back, maybe thats asking for too much?

all the best

the bear

Hi guys,

I bought one from empiredirect one month ago for almost £580 including Quidco and %5 paypal payment. concerning 360 & ps3, this is perfect but for normal TV channels is not the best.

Good luck to you all.

You can get DVI to HDMI cables fairly cheap to do the job.

Audio is transmitted over the HDMI cable

But if you then want to send the sound to a surround amp you can't as no optical out.

i.e. got 360, ps3, sky etc all connected to your tv, with an optical out the sound is sent to your surround amp without the need for you to keep changing the amp inputs for each seperate device.

ettam123;1996633

I tried john lewis and was told by trafford that the tv is sold online only, I dont think online sales price match

correct just had an email from john lewis confirming this so if you want this set looks like argos only for the moment unless you live near a richersounds corner shop, shucks:thinking:

the hitachi has a "motorised" stand

what a random reply. lol

i got this screen from Richer today, and im proud to say its a PILE OF *****, took it back an hour later and exchanged ir for a panasonic th42px80b under price match with s&v, cost me £673 with the 5 year warranty (panasonic one)

so the hitachi:

1) it looks ugly

2) SD being bad is an understatement, its rubbish, full of motion blur and was so choppy, image quality was just a pathetic blur tbh

3) i tried the PC through HD and that looked worse, it deffinatly looked like it was scaled down

i didnt bother trying the wii or the xbox, took it back within an hour, and the screen does not have a motorised base, the rep said it was removed a while ago from these models by hitachi, he also did warn me about this screen and said it was total rubbish, and heres me thinking he was trying hard sales tactics to buy something more expensive. Kept my ground and took the 5 year warranty package lol, when i got home and tried it.. i thought damn i made a big mistake lol

man it has been a stressful day but now i have a veira with the 5y warranty for the same price
(although he said he had to post me the regestration papers as that store didnt receive them yet)

anyone else have any opinions on this?

pc_tech86;2013399

what a random reply. lol

meant as a deal closer for Darthballs, class name and excellent movie btw

thanks but read the above lol
