Please do not vote cold becauuse you can get 1tb usb2 for a little extra, this hard drive has an esata connection hence its faster than usb2. This is a good price unless you can find a cheaper 500gb esata hard drive.
The Neso 3.5" External Hard Drive is a highly reliable and secure USB device enabling fast and easy back up of your data for archival, transportation or exchange purposes; perfect for all your work files, multimedia applications, photos and videos.
3 years manufacturers warranty.

>Hitachi Neso

Note the device is actually from a company called Neso.

The hard drive is a Hitachi.

The way it is written it looks like the product is called the Hitachi Neso, but I can find no mention of that on the Hitachi web site.

Quite a few web sites have this listed as the Hitachi Neso, but it looks like they may be riding on the back of the Hitachi name.

Cant find a web site for Neso.

On that note, they have their exclusive range of portable hard drives too. Here, we have a look at the Neso 250GB USB 2.0 Portable Drive."

Thanks, looks interesting. The description says it is powered by USB, so presumably you connect one cable to USB for power and one to eSATA for data transfer. Hard to find info on this drive so anyone who has one - is it quiet?

Managed to find the neso website but no sign of neso hard drives on their product page.

was interested in this.... but then did a little research and it appears that USB 3.0 is supposed to have been released to hardware manuafactures back in Jan 2008 - 4800Mbit/s as oppsosed to 3000Mbit/s for esata..... but are there actually any usb 3 drives out there yet!??!?! Perhaps this is still the best option for the moment.

hard drive manufacturers have just very recently released some usb3 models i think they are quite expensive and the speed of those drives were limited by the hard drive rather than the interface, i think buffalo and one other company released them.

I noticed the copyright at the bottom of each page is for 2002, so not much activity lately then !
