Seems a good drive so far - has a semi standby function that must extend life of drive...

Heat. The 10HD code didnt work last month as it was collect only and they only let you use promo code for delivery based options. Got one myself and its nice and quiet and auto-standbys when not in use so improves the life of it a little

A sudden flood of 1Tb drives today! :-)

Christ thats hot - got scorching here last month when it was about a fiver more...

Can I confirm that you cannot use the 10HD to collect from store? Shame as there's a PC World around the corner.

Got one of these from tesco direct when it was about 55 a few weeks back. A top drive and at this price its a steal. Hot!

Does anyone know if this drive has an (on-off) power switch?

I've got 1TB and 2TB versions of this drive and both have been fantastic.

Heat added, I paid more:x

No on-off switch but it hibernates when not in use so is a little more energy efficient like the WD My Books.

Have some H&R

anyone tell me if this is a serial drive inside or a ata?

will defo be sata

bought for £64 from tesco direct for my lg 32lh3000 and collected today (next day) from my local tesco after working out amazon next day delivery charges (which would have been delivered today same like tesco), 500 club card points and quidco.

Pros:
enclosure looks very solid, size is good, 3-4 different power adapters, pre-formatted NTFS, 3 years warranty

Cons:
Very noisy (ambient hum sound due to platters + read / write clicks especially when copying big volumes of data), data transfer speed can maximum reach 30 MBps (240 Mbps)

A nice review (for 2TB model with same features) can be found at ]http//ww…iew

Can you hear read / write clicks on your drive?

I talked to tesco customer support and they simply asked me to go to store to return it and get refund.

usb or mains powered?

To reformat a big drive like this for a PS3, you'll need to do two things with teh drive connected to a PC.

Format it to FAT32 [Google "format fat32 larger than 32gb"] to get a utility that'll handle a drive larger than 32Gb.

Create folders called "Picture", "Music", "Video" and "Game" then transfer all the files you want to access via the PS3 to the correct folder. [n.b. File sizes have to be smaller than 4Gb for FAT32, so no big HD files will work. You'll need to chop them up.]

Plug it into the PS3 and voila.
