Product Information
The Hitachi UT32MH70 is the thinnest screen we've ever sold! Okay, at just 35mm it's so thin that Hitachi couldn't even fit a TV tuner in but, provided you have a Sky, Virgin, Freesat box or DVD recorder (with HDMI) this is no problem at all. Furthermore, if the system is being used as part of a home cinema system then a monitor represents excellent value as you're not paying for a part of the TV you don't need.

Coming complete with an HDMi input it's easy to connect the UT32MH70 straight up to an AV receiver or media source of your choice. Once connected, you'll enjoy HD quality images from the IPS screen that are every bit as good as normal, "full fat" LCD screens. In addition to the HDMI there's also a VGA socket that is perfect for a PC or, with an adaptor, any analogue source you care to add.

In addition to being a third of the thickness of a conventional LCD TV, the Hitachi UT32MH70 is lighter, too. In fact, this screen is so light that it hangs as easily as a picture with no special wall surface required (ask instore to see a range of matching brackets). To keep the appearance neat and tidy, Hitachi has designed special cable channels. The beautiful finish has also been designed to look sleek from any angle - perfect if the screen is stand mounted in the centre of a room.

For a fuller picture from a thinner screen, the Hitachi UT32MH70 is without competition.

Why the cold votes?? Explanations please???

Yes I don't understand the cold either, OK I haven't looked at the spec in detail but I actually like the idea of a slimmer screen and the lack of tuner is fine if like a lot of people you use a pvr, although looking at my thumb drive usb dual freeview tuner I don't think the thinner because they left out the tuner really stands up. Lack of hdmi inputs is more of a concern I would expect more than one.

probably due t the TV's more monitor than TV roots
when i was looking at a new TV i looked at the 40" however the lack of features put me off
one HDMI port for starters

Probably voted cold because this has been posted every week for the last month or so.

Review here, personally I would not vote it cold, its SD performance is good with a decent upscaler, the price Richer Sounds have it for is excellent and worth considering :

However, there are downsides with it not having a tv tuner, if you are considering HD sources it only has 1 HDMI socket! Meaning either a HD switchbox or an amp with HDMI passthrough.

Also it has NO scart connections or Component or composite!!! Just One HDMI v1.3 input and a VGA port thats it, making its decent SD upscaling circuitry stand somewhat awkward with SD equipment with composite/Scart outputs!

Also has anybody tried buying items from Richer Sounds stocks are bound to be ultra limited, worth a phone call before making a venture, but my recent experiences with Richer Sounds have been none too great.

Going for it. It will go well with my cable box in the family room!

Just don't forget to weigh in the costs of any additional adaptors/switchboxes necessary if you intend on adding any other equipment to it, its only a bargain if you are limiting your connectivity. Also phone the store close to you before heading off to check on stocks.

Shame they didn't have the hindsight to add more connectivity, One HDMI and One VGA socket, thats one input with video/audio (HDMI) and one input of RGB Video no audio (VGA) hence either someone with any SD equipment with analogue outputs would have to weigh up the options of getting a scart or composite/component/rca to HDMI converter or pass through the audio through an amp or external speakers and get a scart or composite/component to VGA converter. By then you would probably be better off looking for 32" tvs in the 300-350 bracket.

Already have the 2.1 which is currently coupled to a Samsung 19" TV (- a great set but switches itself within half an hour of switching off!).

Hope you get one ok, its a great deal knowing its connectivity limitations aside, if they are not necessary the picture quality is meant to be good on these units and they are a steal at this price.

By the way you can phone and reserve at Richer, so may pay you to ring early, that way if they do have stocks they will gladly put one aside for you.
