And esata even faster still...

but I can't find a 2TB esata drive for £90 let alone a 2TB USB 3 drive AND a new laptop with USB 3 ports...

why all talks big abt this usb3?how many have a lappy with usb 3?

This deal is for a USB 2.0 drive. Yes, USB 3.0 is faster. The new 2.67gb drives are bigger?

Well USB4 is even faster than USB3 or USB2 and i just had some toast so go figure.

guys, lets comment on the POST! 2TB USB2.0 drive . . . . . . hot or cold?

Does anyone know what drive is in this enclosure, if if the disc speed reaaly is 0PRM!

RPM even, edit button wont work on opera!

Hard disk rotational speed: 0 RPM

Now that's a worry!

0 RPM ??? ..hmm.. must be a SSD then ! 2TbSSD for £92??? roasting HOT!!!!

The post arrived late for me this morning but it doesn't matter since it was just some bills :P

hot, i got it a couple of pounds cheaper on amazon a few weeks ago.

the hitchi logo flashes white with hd activity which is a bit annoying if its directly in view, aside from that theres no problems

Firewire 400 is still faster than USB2 in practice (and devices come with 2 ports), but this is still good value for money.
Feels like I'm likely to get Light Peak before USB2, but until then FW or USB2 will have to do.

Don't misquote me bobbob; it was Zippy that brought up USB 3 as being faster - if you'd bothered to read my post you'd have seen I was making just the point you made:

No it isn't....

hahahahahaha...

Firewire 400....is 400mbit max transfer rate, USB2 is 480mbit....USB3 is obviously faster, I'm not interested in it so haven't looked at the specification but have heard it's 2.5x speed of USB2.0 so your mistaken,

Firewire is a load of tosh conjured up by the proprietory skumbags of the world....Apple and Sony.

Good riddance that dying horse.

....Ahhh...I see where you got that "information"...straight from wikipedia.

The wikipedia article assumes that the chipset providing the USB controller is garbage on the host device...a stupid assumption if ever I read one.

he said in PRACTICE firewire is faster, and he is right, it also doesnt fall flat on it'ss tupid face with driver issues, or fry your motherboard when all you noobs plug in thousands of usb devices and wonder why you toastied your motherboard.

Firewire daisy chains WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A HUB ... which is exactly why they dont want you to use it, no extra business of selling you hubs that slow everything down when loaded.

in use, FW400 IS faster than USB2 ... and FW800 runs circles around it, I have used ALL 3 and am currently using FW400 and USB, and the firewire link has caused me the least amount of problems fullstop ! FW800 was never pushe like usb was by those that only see you needing to by more peripherals for using USB, thus making more money off you, also Microshite crippled the first drivers for FW800 deliberately making it run slower than it should so users get and pass on false speed infomation, thus making the connection less popular.

Bottom line, given the choice i WILL choose firewire over USB every single time for connection type unless the device i'm using wont benefit from the sped increase, and you have to bear in mind all the other devices you might have plugged into your usb hub

and why doesnt the dam edit button work in opera ... pfft ... you can live with the typos in the above post lol
