I ended up dumping Hive, and switched to Tado. User interface and disconnections did my head in. Options available in Tado are a lot better, plus Hive has no intention of doing smart TRV's what is the point of a "smart" system that is only a remote on off switch.

Really? I've never had any issues with my Hive system. I looked at Tado, Nest etc, but found Hive suited my needs. Must admit I've personally never needed Smart TRV's but everyone's needs and requirements are different.
We are using Hive bulbs, motion sensor, heating system a good while ago and never had any issue with any of the stuff.. no disconnection or whatsoever.
Not the cheapest out there but deffinitely reliable..I can't comment on the cheap competitors.
25% is not a bargain though, as most of the year Hive running promotions.

Just asked Amazon if they are going to price match and they said "no go buy it from Hive" gotta love the customer service. Heat added by the way.
Have a number of Hive devices. Tbe only one that gives occasional probs is the motion sensor. Wish they did more devices e.g seperate temperature sensor, smoke alarm, and outdoor sensors. The cameras don't get good reviews so will give them a miss. Technical support seems a bit hit and miss.

It is companies like Amazon that destroy prices. Im glad they don't match sometimes! Not cheap just ruin everyone else's business and one day the consumer will learn
My Hive has been in for 2 years, heating never missed a beat, lights always work and the motion sensor dropped out once, called customer service and sorted over the phone..... she did add "by the way your xmas lights are offline", which was a bit creepy - guess they can see everything.

they have issues with Hive thermostats eating batteries after a year in otherwise faultless use. The water leak sensor goes off line regularly. You have to have the hub, which is annoying as it is registered to you so cannot be sold if you decide to change.
Noob question.... what is the purpose of the hub? There are two versions of the Hive heater/water control - one with the hub and one without. What does the hub add?

The hub is needed to control your hive devices via your phone. Without the hub your boiler will only work through the thermostat.
