I have Hive. It's brilliant. Saves money due to being able to adjust heating temperature and hot water schedule when away from home. I'm also much more energy efficient now. Best of all, I've told my wife it's far too complicated for her to use so best just leave it for me. Now she doesn't even try to adjust the heating at all. Gone are the days of having to superglue the thermostat. This thing's the future.

I have hive, works really well, very impressed by it, also controls my hot water

Good product, only downside is that it doesn't have boost for heating, eg turn on for 2 hrs then auto off

states out of stock unfortunately on the site...

It will be a new model available very soon with separate temperature controls for each radiator. I've ordered this one from Amazon and cancelled it next day. Prefer to wait for new improved version which is more practical.

Now showing as OOS.

As far as I can see there is still stock. I've just added it to basket.

have been looking at both this and the Nest thermostat. Didn't know what one to get. Anyone any experience with Nest?

I 'get' the idea of this and ease of use, your out and want to control your heating so use this.

I don't see how it saves money though, when I'm out the heatings off, when I'm in I put it in.
Having the ability to turn your heating on when your not in doesn't save money?

A totally unnecessary product

snap! when we leave the house we turn house thermometer down, when in back up. our boiler and heating system is only 3 yr old so warms the house up quick with tvr's in each room.

I would like the ability when future version available to control room by room temperature, so I can set or adjust when in or out.

To be able control every radiator is going to need an update in the heating installation (automatic valves in everey radiator/room)

Obviusly, the price of doing that is not going to be nowhere near 200 quid.

Also, having different temperatures in different rooms it may cause condensation (and damp)

Where is the information of that new model?

We probably don't need half the technical stuff we have these days.....but we still keep buying them. I have Hive and I think it's a really good piece of kit. It means I can sit in my lounge and adjust the heating and hot water without having to get off my fat @rse.

So over Christmas, if you went away for 5 days and it was Baltic outside. You'd turn the heating to say 10degrees heading out the door.
When you get home and turn it back up, that takes time. Things like this allow you to fire up the heating in advance manually or automatically. It's all about convenience.

In stock according to website just now.

Out of stock.

Damn, missed it again!

We had this and it was ok whilst it was working but then after a month we had connection issues, I'm pretty good with IT but couldn't figure it out. We've now switched to honeywell evohome which is amazing and saving us £20 a month on gas

Like I said, I 'get' the idea of it, the convenience factor, but what it wouldn't do for me is save me money, and I really fail to see the money saving side of it.

I'm out, the heatings off, when I get in takes all of 30 seconds to turn it on and home is comfortable inside of 30 mins.

Agreed- plus it depends on the type of house/flat you have. A 1930s solid wall home will take a few hours to warm up (perhaps even longer, depending on how long the heating has been off for). If we've stayed away for the weekend, the ability to be able to turn the heating on remotely as we head home is a big plus...

hours if you have an terribly inefficient central heating system. this is a gimmick and for those with more money than sense

Some people don't even have thermostats in their house, just a timer. So something like this isn't a waste of money.
Yes being methodical and organised will save more money. The convenience this adds to your heating pays for itself.

I guess you don't own a microwave, remote control enabled TV, you car doesn't have power steering, you always buy cars with manual windup windows, you make your own soap out of seal blubber, you own a goat to cut the grass and don't own a smart phone?

Some examples of convenience above are silly ones but they highlight items of convenience we all take for granted. Even though they may not necessarily save us money.

I have just ordered, got no room stat so been looking for wireless stats but mine field on capability for installation so happy to pay price for stat and fitting without the option of controlling on your phone.

Same here sounds pretty good

I've tried all these stats and the main thing that swayed me was that the nests and the hives of the world SELL YOUR DATA ON so all your usage info etc of your address, of you personally and how you control your home goes on to others to pontificate on. Couple that to as already stated no Boost function, I plumped for Tado (German company) they will never sell your data on to a third party. Their stat also is able to split time so you could have multiple on off periods with multiple temperatures too. We have an old Victorian house and we have saved money. Lots of and lots of it.

I would like to comment on how good or bad hive is , however the British gas engineer that I booked to install between 0800-1300 hasn't bothered to turn up !!!!

terrible service from British gas !!!!!
