If I got this, would it work with my normal boiler? and could I just control the temperature with this? Or is this for electric? Been seeing this for a while now and it looks interesting but I'm just not up-to-date with this.

I have a Hive with a normal hot water boiler. It replaces your current thermostat, so whatever you currently use to control/set your heating will be swapped out with a receiver box (the white box in the 4th photo on Amazon, far right).

Then the Hive thermostat (4th photo, left) is battery powered and wireless and goes on a wall wherever you want, probably in your hallway.

There's also an extra hub that you plug into your router (4th photo, middle white box). That's the hub, so if you get more hive products they connect to that.

Then you can control your heating from your phone. I don't think I've even touched the thermostat on the wall once! It's much more convenient than a normal thermostat, to be able to turn the heating off if I'm away or pre-heat the house if I'm coming home earlier than my schedule.

Awesome. Thank you! What if I don't currently have a thermostat? I control the heating on the boiler at the moment, can't choose a temperature or anything. Would I still be able to get this?
Get an extra £6 off if you pay via topping up your account with more that £80 at the moment. At least for me.
Is there an option of controlling different rooms with this as well?

No idea I'm afraid. This includes installation, so a Gas Engineer (presumably they'd send a British Gas engineer) would be able to solve it. They deal with all sorts of different setups, so I'm sure it'd be fine.

I got my Hive with a new boiler from British Gas, so I don't know how they manage installations like this.

I have mine fitted to my boiler that originally didnt have a thermostat. Just a timer kn the boiler.
Also if you are supplie by BG and a rewards member you can get it for £124.50
Do thermostat wires become obsolete with installing this ?

We have a hidden wire going from the boiler all the way to the thermostat!

Yeah, the thermostat is wireless so can go anywhere., you can get stands for it to go on the table, or just fit it to the wall. The thermostat wires can just be removed.
That's the price I paid about 4 years ago (without the Echo Dot) so great value

It's probably paid for itself in the savings Iv'e made

Great bit of kit - Heat ! (no pun intended)
Purchased yesterday with their instal due to the amount I was saving. They’re coming Tuesday. £185 and that includes the hub aswell so I can expand to lights and cctv when required
So does this include the hub I need to use this remotely or do I need to buy that separately? It says in the description that includes the hub but have seen in this and other posts comments about buying a hub
Is this better then the nest offer with Google? As that also doesn't include installation???
I don’t need heating plus water, just heating, but that isn’t available in with the dot or installation - does that matter? Can I get this and just ignore the water part?
Im interested in getting this for my new flat. Only problem is that my flat is still in the process of being built (estimated December) can I get this early and choose to install it at a later date?
Good deal. If you’re a BG Customer you can get the same deal for £149.99 including installation.
I have dual Thermostate in my detached House...1 thermostate to control the heating in lower floor and another thermostat to control the heating upstairs(for all my bedrooms)...How does this work? Do i need to buy 2 of this ??
If anyone can self install or like me is simply looking for a spare (£45’ish deducting value of Echo), Hive are selling the thermostat with receiver and echo dot but with no hive hub or installation for £74.

If you want to use Hive to control both zones, I think so yes.
Can these be used with oil boilers

Yes, once you are ready to get this installed you input your unique install code into hivehome.com/ins…all and select the date you want your thermostat kit installed

With the Pro-Install the engineer will install what is required. So you don't need to worry about that
Is this a new version, just I got this last year for £139 with a free echo (the older echo though)
May drop further in price looking at uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Hiv…6F4
Perhaps better black friday price due?
Great piece of kit. I got ours on the last deal. If you're not handy with electrics get the installation. Its well worth the price. Depending on your set up some are a ten minute job some require a bit more work to source a power source for the receiver.
Sounds good, I got the Smart Nest Screwfix deal for £168.99 with the stand included. Installation was £80, so ended up it being £250 - only difference seemingly being that Nest 'learns' what you do, but tbh I've not really seen much of the benefits of it. So, I would say this deal was probably the better one, as it's £90 cheaper than what I paid AND you get an Echo.

yes no issue having the heating and water Hive unit and using it just for heating. I have a combi boiler and use just the heating part
does this work with a new "worcester greenstar 30i" gas boiler or do i need something else?

Yes it works with that
Just received mine. Don't I need anything else? I just got the one box pictured, nothing else? Is that all that's needed?
does this work with really old boilers? I have a Potterton boiler which is over 20 years old and still has the insulated water tank.
hive nest or tado?

I have a similar setup with an Ideal boiler and yes it does work fine. I paid this about three years ago and never regretted it, I absolutely love my Hive as I live alone and work odd shifts so always control my heating ad hoc rather than mess about with timer settings (though my water is scheduled to come on once a day at the same time). This price with fitting and a free Dot is a steal.

hive nest or tado?

Got the hive but tempted by the nest as moving home. The nest learns from it's useages and you coming and going from house.
Ordered, seems like a great deal. Also I have Alexa, which put me off Nest as not sure whether in reality they will continue to actively support Alexa now it’s Google

Do you have this one installed or did you purchase the boiler only one ?

Logic combi boiler, controlled by a danfoss wb12 and a couple of thermostats, with two zones (one for lounge one for rest of house)
