How much does installation cost?

The installation option is an extra £106 but you might be able to get a local electrician or heating engineer to install it for less. It's pretty straightforward and should take an hor or two.
Bought this at around £152. Really pleased with it. Works well with my old gravity fed system (Renting, so I'm not allowed to update the boiler).

Saves money and is really convenient.

Best part for me is turning the heating on from my smartphone when I'm 20 minutes or so away from home. Great feeling when I get home and the house is warming up nicely. . .
Voted hot - as this is a great price and a great piece of kit. The new nest system just launched last week, now does hot water and central heating like this Hive system does. Fitting is quite straight forward, and dependent upon the age of your existing programmer, might be very easy as for many years they have used a common wiring back plate - i.e. unscrew the old and plug the Hive straight in. Mine was a little more complicated however very straightforward and easy to do, as I just watched my electrician nephew do it! - took him no more than a few minutes, to unwire the old and fit this Hive system.

Thanks for this ,I might try myself
I have this, works really well, controls the hot water as well, which Nest has only just started to do
is this one not for combi boilers? or do you have to buy the other one with just heating at a higher price

If you have the standard setup of programmer -> wall thermostat (1 zone) then installing this is a breeze.

I'm trying to figure this out as well. I know it's the single channel one I need for a combi boiler, but Hive and that amazon product description both say the engineer brings the receiver when they come to install, and as far as I can work out, that's the only difference. The Hive site doesn't differentiate between the systems so I think it's just the same kit and the engineer does the rest. That said, I'm not 100% on that, cos I could've sworn the Hive site was different a few days ago and had them as separate products!
both items are back in stock there is 2 models ive ordered the one that just does heating and its the same price at the moment

Hi, does it replace the programmer next to the boiler, or does it need to go in with the hot water tank?
Presumably just link the wires where the thermostat is now?

Yep, it replaces the old programmer (had the same wire pinout as my old one). Then the other box plugs into your router, and you pair the thermostat.

With your old thermostat you can just short it out and blank it off, or in the mean time just turn the stat up to max.
