I've never seen the stand for this range reduced since I've had Hive, so this is a good buy!

I thought these Hive devices were wall mounted?

£24 for a plastic stand? Am I missing something? Other than a Hive.

Check first to see if you have a buddy with a 3d printer

Worth it's weight in gold for us as we don't have a wall that would be practical to mount the thermostat.

Bought a Hive thermostat (no hub, self install) for £75 the other day, and the lady at Hive seemed shocked when I said I didn't want to pay £29.99 for a stand or £19.99 to change the colour of the edge of the controller. I've no idea how they can warrant these kind of prices for something so unnecessary.

I guess £23.99 is a 'deal' in the sense that it's cheaper than RRP, but I won't be biting until they're nearer a fiver

thanks for posting, i was looking at these as the Hive thermostat can be moved to where you are rather than hang on the hall way wall.. But i still think its expensive, hoping they will reduce further sometime.

Till then, i just stand it on the shelf in the living room, or bedroom side table , works just fine and still looks fab (just hide the backside lol)

Get your facts straight. The base is metal and it is substantially made. I have just bought one for £29, the cheapest price at the time. £23.99 IS a bargain. Heat added.

Me too!

Heat given as it's the cheapest price for the product but bloody hell it's still ridiculously expensive. Back of fag packet calculation - 24 quid will buy you 160 Kw of leccie (based on 15p/Kw), which is about 3 weeks' usage for the average household. And people buy Hive in the hope they save money....

Likewise, move mine around from bedroom to living room on bedside cabinet or shelf in the living room. If they were half the price I would buy one, but at this amount of money. Too expensive...

The hive thermostat controls the temperature for the whole house. If you have it with you in the warmest room then the rest of the house will be cold. It's recommended to place the thermostat somewhere central. So on the wall in a hallway is ideal (if you have a hallway that is)

That makes this stand seem even less value

If buying any of the thermostats these come free with them in screwfix. For anybody buying the range.

For that price it should be able to withstand nuclear blasts and atmospheric re-entry. Plastic, metal... whatever. £24 instead of £29 for a stand for something that will stand up fine on its own. Bargain.

I thought the same. But wall mounting it wasn't an option for me. When I got it, I going out it's actually metal frame with the plastic mount. Could easily use it as a weapon with the weight of it.

Wise word of warning!
Don't assume you only need a Central Heating version of Hive if you have a combi boiler. A lot of Worcester Bosch combi boilers have a small hot water tank in them too, and will be wired as through they are HW and CH.I fell foul of this last week and ordered the wrong Hive from AO.com.

Could you possibly elaborate? I have a Worcester Bosch and ordered this the other day... Hoping it will be okay!

I think just check your boiler model number and see if it has hot water boost - it uses a small internal tank to make hot water even more instantaneous - in the morning for example.
To be honest, if the functionality is being used, you'll already have a control panel that has both central heating AND hot water option.
Hope this helps!

Ah, I don't think I have that option, but will take a look later. Thank you!
