How many people really need this control when timer and room thermostats worked so well for so long. Interesting how long you will need to use it to recover the cost !

Once you've had Hive you will wonder how you lived without it.

Saved the cost of it within 6 months. (admittedly that includes going on holiday and forgetting to turn the heating off which I can easily do now)

I got one a few months back through British gas for £149 installed through a special deal from an engineer that was doing my boiler service. I wouldn't have got one but we didn't have a weekly timer on the boiler or a thermostat so I killed 2 birds with one stone. I agree with the above though. it's a lot of money if you have a thermostat already. £199 seems a good price installed though.

its not worth it for everyone. But some people have more random schedules and if you are upgrading from a 24hour clock then you start saving on weekends and the odd evening. Also reducing the temperature can save you alot to. So you can have it higher at night and lower during the day, or vice versa for example.
So it can make a more comfortable environment

I switch my heating on when I'm out , from my phone cost me £3.99

Don't know why people are voting cold, perhaps just being moody because it's a Monday

I remember in my secondary school days, coming home - lighting a fire (firelighters/sticks and coal) and waiting about half an hour or more for the heat to warm one room. These young whipper snappers can't flip a switch and wait 3-5 mins.

I have a thermostat with a timer that kicks in before I get up, HIVE is a waste of money if you ask me.

Tried that my Missus can only find the button that turns the thermostat up. I'm thinking if I get one of these, turn t to cold while she's in so she can keep keep the bed warm for me

Considering this is £49 cheaper than Amazon and British Gas themselves, how can this deal be anything but HOT?

Damn, was about to post it for £210 installed at Costco. Seems to be something BG are pushing at the mo.

Available in Maplin too.

I went for one, been eyeing one up for ages. I don't use a timer as my comings and goings are random. Plus the 'cool' factor. Especially as I'll have it hooked up to Alexa.

what about if you wake up 30 mins early , u could pick your phone up and turn heating on ? i dont have it but looking to get it or something like it , the thermostate i have is a pain to program times in so something on the phone would be much quicker and easier

Half hour? I had to get it going as a kid and could never get beyond burning the paper & wood and ended up putting the gas poker in before my Dad got home

Makes me laugh the cost of these. It's like getting someone in to stick a wireless dongle to the back of your PC and paying them to connect it to your router. Another item ridiculously over priced for what should be a cheap buy in today's world of wireless accessories.

Yes its useful bit of kit but agree with you its way overpriced £30 to £40 would be more realistic price

i have the v1 £55 from Screwfix the other month , its great , wouldn't pay £200 tho, its handy to have if we go out can turn heating down then put it back up 1/2 hour before we return home otherwise it would be left on all the time

Back to £249.99 now, god damn it, should've gone for it yesterday.

Any body know how easy they are to wire in , if i already have a wireless thermostate

Did you try choking the fire with the newspaper trick? Although sometimes the fire would choke me with its backdraft trick.
