This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

The deal linked is for a used like new unit (Heating only).

I understand that Amazon offer full 1 year warranty on items being sold this way.

This is the same package that includes the hub & receiver.

There are also Heating + Hot water units being sold from the warehouse in "used - very good condition" for £84. amazon.co.uk/gp/…e=2

I've just bought one of these for my 19 year old daughter who has recently bought her own flat (I'm a very proud father).

Now its not that I think shes particularly dim or that the current heating controls in her house are hugely complicated but I just don't think that she and the control will "get on".

Left to their own devices it is inevitable that her house will end up a bit like the desert environment conservatory in Kew Gardens as she will forget to ever switch it off.

Not only will her flat be unable to accommodate the visitor numbers that are likely to result from this but it would also be likely that she will overtake Trump as the main cause of global warming (the impact of this on our family reputation could be disastrous especially on the back of the previous "incident"....).

Anyway this gizmo can be controlled by an app and given that she she always has a phone in front of her 25/7 (I haven't actually seen the entirety of her face since 2015) I hope that this contraption is just the thing for her.

Time will tell.

Now where is my darkened room.......

Hi all,

Just to clear a few things up in this thread:
- The model listed on this deal will work with combi boilers, it won't work with a setup where you have a boiler that heats a separate hot water tank. The Hive thermostat is the same for both these scenarios but the receiver unit is different, those two options cost the same usually but in this case the deal is for the combi boiler version only
- This will work with almost all gas and oil boilers, there are only a very small number of niche boilers that it won't work for - but any boiler that has a 'normal' thermostat and controls will work with Hive
- As mentioned above, the hub that comes with this package is not easy to change between owners, so if you get one that's been registered to someone already you'll have to get Hive to change it, it's a faff but it's possible. Note that the thermostat itself, and any extra devices (sensors, cameras etc) are easy to change between accounts, it's only the hub itself that can be a challenge
- Replacing an existing thermostat with Hive should technically only be done by a Gas Safe qualified engineer BUT it's easy to do and a lot of people do it themselves

Cheers.

Do you need a plumber to install?
My son has broke my thermostat and the glass screen has broke. It's a Danfross wired ,£30 on Ebay so I spose I'm looking at another £30 to get it fitted.

Connecting these to your boiler isn't too difficult, it's more about wiring than plumbing.
If you have the wiring diagram for your boiler, it's fairly easy to work out.

Then again, isn't difficult for a tradesman to do so won't cost much.

If you get the same thermostat as you have already, you may be able to pair the replacement to your existing receiver?
Is this just the thermostat because I've got a hub with lighting in my home setup,do I need other pieces for it too work thanx...

As mentioned above "This is the same package that includes the hub & receiver."

The thermostat only option is more expensive (if you go back to the product main page this option is the "additional thermostat") .

This should include everything ready to get the system up and running.

If not then it will be back off to Amazon.

That's what I've bought it for (but I'm no expert on these things).

Isn't that the installation option that gets registered??

Either way if there is a problem then back to Amazon it goes!

You have to contact give with your new email address and email.
I also purchased a hive unit and plug from eBay that wouldn't connect.
It had not been disconnected from the previous owners hive account.
Rang British Gas / Hive and the sorted everything and re registered both to my email address.
All working now
Was waiting for a deal on this.... Have some heat!
Where does is say it come with the receiver and hub. Thank you.

Expect difficulty setting this up as others have said. Hive do no like the hub to be transferred to anyone else. If the original user registered the Hub you will have the run-around trying to get it working. I gave up and bought new for a little extra!
Last time I ordered the hub was registered already, had to return. Trying again, fingers crossed.
Sound like a lot of hub trouble. Maybe wait for a sale for new. Good luck with the hubs hope they work

I bought 2 from Amazon as 'Used Like New' and they hadn't been registered to anyone. Luck of the draw I guess but you can try the route someone above mentioned if they are i.e. ring Hive and get them to change it.

I bought a house which had a Hive in and I had to get the previous owner to give permission to Hive to change the registration to me (my email address)
If you are looking to have another for multi zone would you just buy 2 of these??

Doesn’t a combi heat water on demand thus not needing a timer etc?
Wil this work if I have a combi boiler? I don't have a hot water tank. Just a combi boiler.

Wrong. Mine is on a combi. Bear in mind that some boilers cannot be controlled by this. I was looking at getting a Weissman boiler but didn't purely because the Hive would not work on it.
My personal experience of Amazon Warehouse used like items in that at worse packaging may be damaged the actual product in brand new.

That all depends on the boiler and if you need to remove the room sealed cover, if you do remove a room sealed cover then it needs testing with a gas safe engineer.
84£ for heating and hot water odered. Thanks OP

Hive do a wired stat aswell. There usually just be 2 wires going to the stat so when you get the hive theres only 2 spaces so its easy.
Just spoken to hive live chat and told them I'll be buying one from amazon marketplace. There is a chance it might be registered. The chap told me that the person who registered the hive unit would need to get in touch to change all the details. If he can't do that then the unit itself is useless.

Really wanted this but now cautious.
This or Nest? What are peoples opinions?

Hold up folks.

Mine was delivered this afternoon and the hub was registered to someone else.

Hive were no use and it cant be unregistered from them unless the original "owner" does it (clearly no chance of that).

So much for Hive being environmentally friendly (this will end up in landfill no doubt).

My unit is going to have to go back to Amazon.

As some suspected its a bit of a gamble with this one although it can be returned at no cost.

Just make sure you test the hub before arranging for an engineer to visit.....
I purchased one of these “nearly new” about a month ago from amazon. Couldn’t get the hub set up so called hive on a Sunday morning. After we tried a number of things the person said it might be an “orphaned” unit and there is something at their end they can do to re-enable it with your account. After doing this the hive connected to my account and I couldn’t be happier at the price. if your debating it I would say it was well worth trying.

How do you test the unit to see if it's registered?

Connect it to your router & wait for it to update.
Then try & connect to it through the app.

Or just call Hive with the unit number.

I'll be installing it at a property that doesn't have Internet access yet. Can I register it on my router and then later on reconfigure the router settings?

I'd give Hive support a call to check.

Their number is: 0333 202 9614

Lines are open 8am‐9pm Mon to Sun.

.
which one for a combi

with or without hot water ? thanks
Just got my device. I've managed to connect the hub to my router and register the device to my hive account. Only thing is the green light on the hub keeps flashing green.

Update: stopped flashing green and is now solid green.

Does this mean it's registered with my details?
