There's no compelling reason to go Hive for lighting.

My only experience of Hive has been overwhelmingly negative on the home heating stuff, with reliability being a serious problem.

If you want smart lighting stuff to just work, just go for Hue. If you hate yourself, go for Ikea's Tradfri. There's no point in Hive.

I've added heat because fair play, that's a good price as the Hub retails for £80 on it's own (and is currently £67 on Amazon). Although no-one should ever pay anywhere near that for one.

Hives customer support is impeccable and I've not had any problems which was directly Hives fault with mine but links to other parts of CH system
My hive has been really reliable.
hive has been flawless for me with lights, heating and hot water.
Have been singing the praises of Yeelights and Xiaomi bulbs gateways and accessories. Not anymore. Dreadful support for anyone outside China. Bulbs that once worked and linked into Alexa are no longer doing so. Tried every server that could support my products. My advice therefore is that Hive have got to be a reasonable alternative. I will either opt for these or Philips in future (only when they are on sale lol)
