Could you buy 2, and claim the £30 off both?

Looks like they'll be a few returns on the argos deal.

You need to say what kind of system you have for anyone to know that.

Fair ball!
Gas boiler controlled by that switch, with thermostat in a separate room - if that is any help! Brand new boiler mind!

Brand?

Hive should be able to replace any manual or automatic control system. All it is a smart system attached to a relay - the relay input would have been where your manual timer or whatever was before. As long as the Hive system can communicate with the controlling relay it should be fine.

I still don’t like all this IoT stuff taking over and Hive’s customer support is dreadful but if it works fine first time it is definitely useful.

Should be no problem. (if this is a heating controller only)

The Hive would replace your thermostat, and this timer you would always just leave at 'On'. Just my opinion.

I had a new boiler fitted by British Gas last year and it uses this - it works well.

However the system requires the thermostat and Hive Hub - which are included in this deal - but it also needs a Hive receiver wired into your boiler - I can't see that that is included.

It also Requires Professional Install as stated on the link.

Hive active heating cost about £9 per month (I got the first year free so not paying this yet)

Hive receiver is included in the box.

I have loads of tech, hue, arlo, echo etc but still cant bring myself to buy smart heating even at this price. Just seems pointless to me. Ok i turn the heating on or off where ever i am, great but i just want the heating on when im home and have never left the heating on. Its all timed on a cheap wireless thermostat anyway soooooo..... whats the point

How easy are these to install?

Great deal with the £30 cash back. Thank you for posting.

So this is everything you need to replace an old programmer & thermostat (like I believe the Argos deal was with 3 parts (receiver, hub and thermostat)?

I decided to give the Argos deal a miss, but this may be too tempting as fed up setting the times differently at the weekend and week days on our timer twice a week.

Just checked the info and it says: "what's in the box - Hive receiver" and nothing else?

Are people sure this will have everything needes to replace my programmer and Thermostat?

Thanks Mark.

If you scroll down to the description which also includes pictures from the manufacturer it says Hive Hub included, within the other section it also states receiver so I think everything is included to install. I have ordered as if its all not included it will be going back with a bit of a moan!

That's great - thanks for that.

I'm going to bite at this price.

Well I've ordered also taking a load of screen shots of what's included and also of the £30 cashback deal - we will see.

Cheers.

Depends on the thermostat your replacing so difficult to say.

100% this will have the Hive hub, reciver and thermostat so everything needed for you to replace an existing setup.

Retailers do sell an additional thermostat called a Hivemultizone smart thermostat but this is the whole enchilada.

I currently use a wireless Siemens thermostat if that's anything to go off?

The only way this will save anybody any money is if they spot their partner turning up the thermostat then, I assume they can sneakily turn it back down again using an app on their phone and it will take a little time for the other half to spot it. Otherwise you're more likely to turn the heating on before you get home with this, whereas we turn it on after we return thus the heating isn't on as long and body heat from us helps reduce the fuel used to warm the house.

I had a Salus rf thermostat, inside the transmitter unit (box wired to the combo boiler) were just three wires, Live, Switched Live and a Netural. Simple to just swap wires to the Hive receiver.

Thanks for those who have pointed out that the receiver is also included.

The receiver for my boiler is wired via a switched spur from my mains fusebox and then to the boiler. As I said earlier Requires Professional Install as stated on the link

If you feel you are not competent to fit then yes get a professional, there is no legal requirement to have a professional fit it and as many have said it can be quite easy.

My issue is that I have a wired thermostat and although I can cap off one end I am unsure if it's connected to boiler or programmer in situ. I will probably get a spark in to sort

If you buy 2 products do you get £60 off?

When you've got kids and you've been caught in the rain it's nice to able to switch on the heating on your way home and returning to a bit of heat.

Can you use just the heating side of one of these (new hotwater to follow in 6-12 months)

I had the same issue, and the answer seems to be yes, as long as your boiler uses mains voltage for the switching. The single channel kit (heating only) allows for different voltage options.

The old thermostat caught me out as I got everything setup and working with no issue and then though "I'll cut the wires on the old thermostat and put the new thermostat in its place".

I then found out the boiler was not even turning on when I wanted the central heating.

Eventually traced my steps back and realised the boiler uses the thermostat so reinstalled the old one and will have to work out some time how to remove it (I'm guessing I'll have to trace the wires to the receiver end and also measure the old thermostat to see what wires it shorts when it's active).

This is my old thermostat if anybody can help please?
