Hive Heating and Hot Water with installation, lowest price I've ever seen it.

For those like me needing 2 zones, I'd recommend ordering the multi-zone at the same time, BG will install both in the same visit for the £156 price you paid on your primary stat.

With that said, the stats are wireless so if you're comfortable you could remove the second zone Stat yourself (consult a qualified person), turn off your RCD/Fuses, remove Stat, tape wiring and screw Hive mount over the top. Not advocating this and as above I'd order both on the deal price to be fitted by a professional, but it's not difficult as a DIYER.

Motion Sensors v2 - £17.99
Smart hub - £40.49
Smart Plug v2 - £24.29
Active Light White - £11.24
Active Light Tuneable White - £17.99
Active Light Colour - £25.19
Multizone - £62.99

These prices are lower than black friday, so a good deal.

Great mod work, just delete the reply I made and leave the guy wondering, bravo!

You can buy any singular item, I just tested it. The deal link is just for the thermostat.

£103 self install not bad. Personally think toolstation deal for v1 for £60 is better, as there's no real advantage having newer thermostat. If someone insists on the newer thermostat this is a great deal.

Do British gas engineers still charge £150 when doing a vist for this ?

Does anyone know if the hub is included with the hive or if you need to buy it separately?

The hub is included with this price, along with anything else you need.

As per the title, £156 includes installation. Is this not clear from the title? Not being rude, just want to make sure people know what they're getting.

If like me you have a multi-zoned heating system (upstairs & downstairs) you need V2, the deal for the V1 is good, but makes no sense if you have more comprehensive plumbing - greater efficiency.

What's the difference between the hive and the nest? Why?

What I was asking, was British has used to offer hive for £150 installed if they happened to be at your house for a vist. Was asking if they still do this. Was probably my badly worded question
Edited by: "jordan210" 11th Jul

this or the Nest 3rd Gen for £139 ?.... no installation included though on that ....

are both Hive 2 and Nest 3 pretty much on par feature set wise?

I was only messing about with these the other day in John Lewis and tempted but you say a Nest is better, why?
If the build quality is anything to go on the nest felt better but i guess that's not everything.

I wouldn't say Nest is better, or that Hive is better. 90% of their functionality is identical, the remaining 10% is a different implementation of a similar nature, which one suits you is down to your lifestyle and how routine your life is.

So, to my understanding this was purely a chance deal depending on discretion on the engineers behalf and that they had the stock in their van. It wasn't a given.

Absolutely, given the ability to multi zone cheaply and the install inclusion this IMO is a much better deal.

Feature wise, they're almost identical now. Hive works typically via app control, or via timer, though obviously you can also run it using geo-location of your phone - turn on/off when I'm a mile away etc.

We used it all last winter and it didn't skip a beat, coupled with IFTTT and the Hive active lights I have in place it's a nice ecosystem.

RE Nest vs Hive debate one of my requirements was the power aspects.

Hive = wireless stats, no power needed. They'll run off 4x AA battery for well over a year.

Nest = it needs to be wired to your wall ideally via the low powered lines from your heating system. I'm not sure how this works with multi-zoned systems.

Certainly from a power perspective Hive is more versatile.

If you buy give hot water and heating. Phone give and say you've switched to combi boiler.
They will switch the receiver for free

Good price, not sure I need it though

No worries.

To be honest the system is so simple you'll learn it in 10 minutes.

Maybe go and buy some active lights, I switched from LIFX to them and rate them. They integrate nicely with Echo too.

Ordered both from amazon so will get them to install all on one day

just grabbed this, was weighing up the Vs Nest but with installation included think this wins

would of been nice if Nest did fire alarm but hey ho.

i assume you need to wait for the Hive to be delivered and used the code included to book the engineer?

Do I need the hot water part with having a combi boiler?

i was going to ask this but its only option that shows under prime day with installation.

i ordered with the water heating even though i have a combi boiler .

Stupid question, but whats the relationship between Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Alexa?

Are they 2 distinct things, or does the Echo Dot use Alexa?!

essentially the same thing

The Dot is the small Echo which has no speaker so you need to use your own speakers

the full blown Amazon Echo is the one with built in speaker (taller in size)

Alexa is the name you call out so it listens to you.

Hi being a little slow here if I buy the main link
"Hive Active Heating and Hot Water with Professional Installation, Works with Amazon Alexa"
Does this give me multizone, or is there an additional thermostat I need to buy?

The two links open up in what I presume are mobile links and have no photos, colours, or drop downs.

THanks

A dot has speakers, just not as good. Fine if you only need it for voice commands or don't mind listening to music at low quality / volumes.

No, you only need the 'Heating' option if you have a combi.

Yes, arrange installation using the details enclosed.

No, you only need the 'Heating' option if you have a combi.

looks like the Heating only with installation isn't a a deal on prime day (only self install)

can you still use the Hive Heating and Water even though you have a combi? i guess just don't plug in the Water part of it?
