Since Hive services have been off all day since 9.45 this morning users cannot control their Hive devices remotely, not even if at home. This is because when you use the app it sends information to the Hive servers which in turn then tell your Hive hub to do what you asked. It would be better if your app controlled your Hive hub directly when at home. Not a big issue for me but it makes you realise that if British Gas turned off their service then Hive users would have a load of useless devices that no longer worked.

Not bad although it was better around Christmas when it was for £125...I just wish I bought it then
Is this available to not British Gas customers ?
I can't see this being offered on my rewards homepage. Is this account specific. :/
I'm not seeing this on Rewards when I log in
37373508.jpgThis has been listed on the BG website. So is a deal, but the link for the rewards site may be down. Hoepfully will be back up later today. Voted hot. Thanks OP

I've got the hive hub that came with the smart plug, I'm assuming that means I don't need a new hub?

Beautiful! Cheers buddy
Love my Hive, saving me £15 a month on gas bills as I didn’t have a thermostat before. When at work I can give the heating a boost for the dogs on a cold day

Heat! (and hot water(embarrassed) ) Just ordered. Thanks OP.

Does anyone know when you are supposed to receive your Echo Dot email/code after ordering please? Ordered last night and nothing on the Echo Dot has come through yet??
Ordered with multizone, cheers!

Does anyone know if the engineer installs both zones or just the main one?
Can't seem to see this on my rewards. I have a homecare policy with them. It does say services and energy customers. Perhaps this doesn't mean homecare? Any ideas?
Thanks for posting this headingley_lad.
I've been waiting for a deal since xmas.
Already got the hub so 119. Installed for me.

Are you sure? i've been tracking it since lastyear and it's always been £200 with the echo dot for BG customers and 249 without. £149 is a steal seeing as amazon are doing the same deal but without the dot.
Yeah, the code was 50% off last time.

Yeah, I've been in the same boat. So thanks from me too!

Paid over 12 months as well! lol.

I'm a Home Care customer (due to buying a new boiler a couple of months ago) and it showed in my rewards.

Spot on.

I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this.

Think on this - BG know exactly when you turn a lightbulb on, a switch on, your thermostat up, your security lights on, your haphazard timings for lights to fool burglars that you aren't really away in Costa del Safeti.

BG/Hive revealed their hand this week when the MASSIVE outage left people wanting - for a day.

Disconnect from the Internet and try using Hive.

On the upside - I did finally discover what that funny white buttony thingy on the wall was for.

Apparently they call it a switch.

Strange.

I’m not great on technology 🙈🙈, how would I know if I need the hub or not??

Thanks for posting.
What is the benefit of buying the hub unit itself over just using the app, as someone mentioned beING abke to get this without the hub?

You would need one hub in the house to operate the Hive kit. Without the hub the Hive active heating would not work.

In the past BG have done promotions giving away free hive sockets and a hub, so if anyone has a hub already via purchasing other other bundles, they can save a bit of cash.

Hope that helps.

Just to elaborate on this.

If you order the Hive heating without a hub (and you don't already have a hive hub in your house) then the hive will just work as a standard heating thermostat and timer in your home (i.e you cannot use your phone or tablet to change any settings on your heating and hot water)

If you order WITH the hub, then you are able to use your phone and tablet on the go to change any settings of your heating system. (and use the wider hive products like light bulbs, switches etc remotely too)

Hope that helps
I’m surprised this isn’t hotter because the other deal on amazon is the same price but doesn’t include the free echo dot.

That’s a good saving, at the moment I have a wired thermostat and I programmed the times I want it on, the annoying thing is that it clicks every single time it calls for heat and it next to my bedroom which is irritating, hopefully the hive doesn’t make any noises.

Is there only one thermostat model now? I think they had separate ones for just heating and one for both hot water and heating.

Probably because you don’t have to be British Gas customer to buy it for £150 on Amazon. British Gas energy tariffs are usually the worst.

I got hive using similar offer from HUKD. I like the concept but it usually over heats my home. Does not sync properly and always overshoots temperature. I can say it does this 25 percent of times.
Cold.

Wouldn't bother now winter is ending and summer will be here soon.
You will probably make little use out of it now.
come the end of September/October their will be a new model coming out, as always with better more advanced features.
Do I need it or do I want it?
This is a want, impulse thing, so I'm not buying
The only money anyone could save by using these remote switching devices is money they were wasting previously. I don’t know how they can keep a straight face & say this is a way of keeping heating bills down. On another note it’s also another step to making a rather simple device unfamiliar with many more people who will be left cold when problems occur
