£10 deal ended last night, I thought I’d get the £10 but didn’t unfortunately.

If you don't know this or if you've not done any wiring of sockets or lights before then probably best to get it professionally installed. I have installed a Hive multi-zone system so feel free to ask any questions (I'm a competent DIYer, not an electrician).

I got one installed with a.o for 230 what's the dif full price of mine was 249 before discount

Hive Active Heating and Hot Water Self Install ...

Basic electrical skills, easy really if you’ve done a bit of diy

How would these work with a Combi boiler
my boiler has the timer with the little switches you flick

With this having the hot water bit, would this still work with a combi boiler? Or do I need to get the specific hive which does not include hot water?

Don't forget 5% Quidco!

Unable to reserve all you lot must be hogging the site lol
Keeps saying unable o check stock

Argos are doing £15 voucher free on £50 spend so more savings on this

Where is that offer

It'll be interesting to see what black friday brings with Hive deals, I think it's likely Amazon will beat this on a lightning deal. Personally if I bought this I wouldn't install until after black friday, then you can return if there is a better deal.

Would still work just ignore the hot water side of it each can be switched independently

Very tempted by this. Was waiting to see what Black Friday brings ...

I decided to buy the one with installation, suppose to just be safe, got it for £164 as had £10 voucher from a previous order. Well worth the extra £50 to have it installed I think. Deal is by far the cheapest I’ve ever seen, Black Friday may beat it but can’t be by much.

Thinking the same , but really would prefer the nest 3rd generation.
May have to buy this now , return it later ...

Advice needed as i'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to technology. I've decided to dip my toe in the water by taking the echo dot and smart plug offer as well as one smart bulb. However, i am tempted to go for heating control also. My boiler produces instant hot water when the taps are turned on so i'll only need to control the central heating. Is this the kind of thing i'm after or is there a different one just for controlling the heating?

Will this work on two zones? And what if I don’t have Wi-fi at home (worst case scenario) ? No Wi-fi means just won’t be able to control it remotely that’s all or no heat or hot water?

Ah, thanks. Missed that.

If you have a hall thermostat I guess that needs to be removed/shorted as the HIVE will take its place?

In the Q & A's there are two answers to the question 'can it be used with Alexa?' One says yes and the other says no. The one saying no is from Argos.

And the reviews don't make it much clearer. It works perfectly with a Worcester Bosch Combi but is not compatible with a new Ideal one. Fortunately, i have a Worcester Bosch and one review confirms that it works perfectly with the echo Dot.

£173.99 with installation. Good deal I think? Dunno how much Nest is with installation...

Decent price.

I was tempted by a Tado but the drawback with that system is if you're replacing a RF thermostat you need to purchase the additional extension unit.

I’ve got that offer this morning, booked it in with British Gas when got home and will be around within 2 weeks to fit. Think it saves having a go myself then wrecking something

Yep, i'm happy to pay the extra £49 for professional installation. My current controller is battery powered. Also, don't need hot water function as combi boiler provides instant hot water when tap turned on so going for this. argos.co.uk/pro…375

If you notice though some of them Q&A's are years old so it probably didn't work with Alexa when they replied.
There's a big banner on the amazon ad saying works with Alexa.

The response from Argos_helper_66 was from 'about a month ago'. I'm happy that he/she is wrong though.

Yes, needs to be disconnected and bypassed in the wiring centre. You shouldn't leave live cables in the wall.

Combi boilers require the dual function heating and hot water hive. I fitted mine to my combi condensing oil boiler and control heating and water separately. Works a treat

Can the stat be hard wired instead of batteries?

That is because you oil boiler has a storage tank. A normal gas combi doesn't have that option.
