Been looking for a motion sensor to go with the Hive Active Heating I got before Christmas and Hive Home have a 20% Winter Sale on at the moment that lasts until January 3rd. The Hive Window or Door Sensor is the same price. Next cheapest price for the Motion Sensor can be found at Amazon and Currys: £24.59.

I’m now on my 3rd of these all of which have failed
It's been at amazon for same price, I guess since black Friday.
A whole £1.39 saving? I'll take 6.

Reviews echo the comments above about their poor reliability. I wouldn't say they're streets ahead (I've got two, one super reliable one a bit hit and miss) but if you want motion sensor lighting and centralised control, have a look at SmartThings. With a bit of luck Amazon will bring them down to BF prices over the next few days (£100 for the hub including a smart plug, motion sensor and door sensor.) If they do the motion sensors at £15 again I might grab another one or two.

Can you not use third party sensors like you can with ST?
Sadly to echo comments above, having picked up a couple from Amazon on BF deals I've had numerous problems with reliability I would say that I'm less than impressed with these.
£2.95 delivery unless you order over a specific amount; maybe £50?

Yep, I have 2. They are hopelessly unreliable, as are the door and window sensors!
You would be better getting a Hikvision/FOSCAM internal dome camera which will trigger reliablly and not let you down.

If you are insistent on getting one, get it from CEX as they are £18 there
I have these and must admit im really disappointed the range of them is not that great and to reconnect them is a real pain gotta take battery out mess around etc.

They aren't even that far from the hub talking 1 brick wall the signal has to get through. Not worth £5 in my opinion kinda not fit for purpose.
Shame because they are well made but not reliable so completely worthless as any kind of trigger or security alarm.

I don't know, I've got a hive hub but never set it up as there's no point if you've got an ST hub.

You can with custom device handlers. I have written one but not yet released to public.

How do you go about loading custom device handlers die Hive? Your Dth wouldn't by any chance be for Xiaomi sensors?
