Do they have the hive heating on offer?
Hi, I’m I reading right that there is no thermostat with it?
No thermostat, just the 2 deals on offer
With no thermostat this is less of a nice warm hive and more of a cold dead wasp nest.

It's a decent deal, it's for home security. nothing to do with heating
Hive Home products are not security products and shouldn’t be sold as such (as someone who owns a load of their smart products)
an echo dot and the hive hub cannot do anything without internet connection, they can’t even speak to each other locally... smart home tech is dumb often

Rubbish - just because they use wifi you're saying they can't be used for security (which is their intended purpose) - of course they can. It's like saying if CCTV camera's use electricity then they can't be classed as security devices. Hive sell heating, smart home devices and security devices. What's a motion sensor or door sensor used for if not security? I have the Hive pack above and its great. If the motion sensor is triggered then it will turn on all my Philips Hue lights around the house.
No what I’m saying is that unless you have a system that can work locally within your house on Wi-fi or cables that devices can speak to each other without an internet connection then you don’t have a security system

you have pieces of smart tech that go out to the internet and then come back again to communicate - each one talking to a separate cloud and then communications between clouds, commands coming back inbound through your internet connection to actually do anything
they are great useful pieces of tech that can automate and simplify your home setup, but they aren’t security systems

so unless you have the best broadband in the world and that has a mobile data backup simm that fails over instantly it detects the broadband has an issue and your wireless router never crashes then it’s a problem

you can get wireless routers that you can plug into your broadband and have sim slots for backup that cost just over £100
however you are again then relying on

amazon echo AWS - which has had major outages repeatedly over the past 12 months

hivehome cloud which again isn’t always stable and consistent - the amount of times this year alone I’ve come home and the hive hub is crashed is ridiculous

the router itself never crashing - even enterprise devices crash - and the router has to realise that the connection has failed to switch over normally though you could configure both connections to be used at the same time always and then if one goes down there is less risk

your broadband never having an issue - please let me know your provider if you have one that never has problems

the data sim being able to connect and use the connection always when needed - which mobile network in the past 12 months has had zero problems?

proper security systems and alarms have always worked internally within a house either through direct secure wireless or just flat out cabled up.
smart connected cameras should always have an option for local storage for redundancy and to ensure continued coverage. you reduce your points of failure to the minimum if you want security

if you want security don’t believe these big companies selling you ideas you are safe, it’s misadvertising marketing crap - and it seems like it’s working huh?
What a boring guy.
