What does a smart thermostatic radiator valve (smart TRV) do?
TRVs control the flow of hot water into an individual radiator so they can be used to manage how you heat individual rooms / radiators throughout your home. With smart TRVs, like the Hive Radiator Valve, you can can control them via an app and set up specific temperatures and schedules for each one you have installed throughout your house

Word of warning: look up reviews before buying these. Ours have had some significant operating issues since day one that still haven't been fixed, and as far as we can tell it's a common fault.
I can get these for £99 for 5 on half price offer but the British Gas engineer said best to wait a year until they get these sorted

the other Hive stuff is great, got installed on Monday and the bulbs and sensors work perfectly with Alexa
Got these for £99 for 5 though british gas... came with a hub that I sold on e bay for £35 ...so they only cost me £65!
Had some of these and returned them. They wouldn't ever fully close of radiators. And the fittings are very poor. One had to be forcibly removed from the radiator to return it. Both of which seem to be common issues according to all the posts on their community forum

Bought these and retuned. Not fit for purpose.

The other Hive stuff really is, big fan of the bulbs with our Google home. It's just these that have been awful.
Avoid, they take ages to heat up. I wasted £400 on these and they don’t work as they should.

I have some and they take a week to calibrate then they're fine. Need to set them up then correctly. I can now control individual rooms zones on a times schedule.

I bought mine from British gas 5 for £99.50.

We've recalibrated ours several times unfortunately, giving them plenty of time to tune in and set themselves up, but to no avail. One of our issues is that when operated manually they adjust correctly, but when given the same direction via the app, the command is both delayed and not executed in the same manner. Hive noted that it's an issue (with other customers too), but have not been able to provide a fix in several months.

They took a day or two to calibrate and at first took ages to come on but eventually they worked fine and came on really quickly within 5 mins of turning heating on, be patient with them and they should be fine
